It's a well-studied phenomenon about human irrational thought patterns. It's the same thought pattern that makes people drive instead of fly, even though there's so much statistical evidence that they are much more likely to be injured or killed in an accident involving an automobile than you are to be killed or injuried in an airplane accident.

There are a group of people who have watched the news reports about "home invasions" and who already have a predilection to believe that a gun is going to be the only protection option, even though the probability of a home invasion while the person is home is much less than the likelihood of a) the gun being stolen or b) a child in the home getting their hands on the gun. These are unfortunately the same people who refuse to use gun safes or child protection locks on their guns.

The behavior is not new or uncommon- it's the same thing that drove closet cases Joe McCarthy and Roy Cohn to harass homosexual government employees in the 1950s. There's always been a group of conservatives, evangelicals and clergy who can't seem to fix their own problems, so they take it out on those of us who don't have their hang-ups.

What has changed is that they're getting caught more often and the stories are getting out into the media. Until recently, the churches buried the story or the media would not publish the story. In this case, facial recognition probably proved it true, a competing evangelical group outed him and a Tweet about the story was how it caught fire.

No matter whether it was in the 1950s, the 1980s, the 2000s or today... the question is always, "WTF was he thinking?". This guy was all over Fox News. He hitched his wagon to Trump. He shows up anytime there's an issue about LGBT issues or about public education, knowing full well he has at least 3 videos of him wanking for a gay porn website.

I'm surprised that Alex Jones' neighbor Joe Rogan hasn't come sniffing around the fire sale.

Jones tried to hide a bunch of his personal assets by transferring them to relatives. The bankruptcy receiver should have been hunting down some of those assets and transferring them to the families, too.
