Certainly there are reasons why many people are turning away from media like the Times, MSNBC and WAPO as their owners become increasingly complicit in enabling a corporate fascist government. The problem is there are fewer and fewer other options for world class respected journalists. Xitter has destroyed any credibility for jouranlism by telling anyone who pays them $8 a month that they are now the journalists and basically attacking any of the accredited journalists. This is the reason that the European Journalists' group, representing hundreds of reporters have shifted their platform to Bluesky, which at the moment, is the only respectable space for fact based reporting.
Sounds like the Times might be about to lose a lot of their talent.

Republicans have no character, no courage, no humility, no fidelity to their oath of office, to the constitution, nor to the rule of law.
Their own moral imperatives, they so freely broadcast, are just a lie to achieve to power, control, and money.
In fact, they pride themselves on their hypocrisy because it proves to them that their lies and deceit have worked to achieve their amoral/immoral objectives.

Lying is bipartisan. The alacrity, scope and breadth may be more the feature of the modern Republican Party.
Mike Johnson came to power with claims of being a devout evangelical Christian.
What bothers me more is the close association between Christianity and the Republican Party and how the pursuit of power has become more important than moral values that Christians used to claim... like not telling a lie or bearing false witness. The definition of "deplorable".

True. The Roman Catholic Church certainly used mendacity in its pursuit of power in Europe. But wasn't that why Protestants led a Reformation against Catholicism's abuses? And wasn't that why America's Protestant Founding Fathers were so emphatic about separation of Church and State?
Evangelical Christianity and mainline Protestant churches are on the decline in the US. But they have been recruiting weak, amoral men to do their bidding in government for decades. The Dominionists have found a useful idiot in Trump: another amoral man, like them, who is willing to barter away America as we know it in pursuit of power.
