Or are just fans of prostitutes and sex trafficking in general?

Bezos and Amazon.

There is already a growing backlash in Canada against Amazon because of its general business and employment model, but I suspect that they will fast fall out of favour with the 'buy Canadian' movement once Trump tariffs are imposed.

Closing 7 warehouses in Quebec will not be popular in that province. And closing them because employees successfully formed a union will trash their brand in a major market.

Amazon has three "markets": the name brand stuff which is probably made outside the US (diapers, believe it of not, is one of their big sellers), resellers (the "Amazon marketplace") and cheap shit from China.

This would be a good opportunity for Canada to bypass US tariffs by importing directly from the manufacturers, setting up their own reseller marketplace and getting rid of cheap shit from China that isn't worth buying. And it's good timing because those big warehouses that Amazon built can probably be bought at a cheap price.

Actually, I think the shift is going to be to ordering directly from the Canadian retailers and manufacturers. There has never been anything on Amazon that we haven't been able to find elsewhere.

For vintage Books, there a a number of good alternatives as well. For new books, we have our local bookstore order them if we can't get them direct through Chapters.

It has been over a year since we ordered anything from Amazon and has been painless.

As you point out, get rid of cheap shit from China through Amazon. If you want cheap shit from China, you can probably find it on Temu.

I figured they would be holed up at Mar-a-Lardo.

Congrats. Working on my 90 day chip. :)

There are so many contenders from yesterday's shocking and shameful display in the White House.

First...Marjorie Taylor Green's boyfriend who was upset because Zelensky wasn't wearing a suit and thought this is the most pressing question you ask a head of state, chastising him because it was disrespectful.

Where was this lumpish bully a few days ago?

And thank goodness he never had to witness this insult to the highest office in the land.

And of course...there was this spineless glob of shit on the sofa...who lost any last shred of credibility with world leaders as US Secretary of State. I see that there are conservatives calling for his resignation.

And of course, Trump and his hand puppet J.D. Vance who both seemed were determined to pick a fight in front of cameras with Zelensky.

Heather Cox Richardson's read-out of the event is definitely worth a read today.

Today, President Donald Trump ambushed Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky in an attack that seemed designed to give the White House an excuse for siding with Russia in its war on Ukraine. Vice President J.D. Vance joined Trump and Zelensky in the Oval Office—his attendance at such an event was unusual—in front of reporters. Those reporters included one from Russian state media, but no one from the Associated Press or Reuters, who were not granted access.

In front of the cameras, Trump and Vance engaged in what Josh Marshall of Talking Points Memo called a “mob hit,” spouting Russian propaganda and trying to bully Zelensky into accepting a ceasefire and signing over rights to Ukrainian rare-earth minerals without guarantees of security. Vance, especially, seemed determined to provoke a fight in front of the cameras, accusing Zelensky, who has been lavish in his thanks to the U.S. and lawmakers including Trump, of being ungrateful. When that didn’t land, Vance said it was “disrespectful” of Zelensky to “try to litigate this in front of the American media,” when it was the White House that set up the event in front of reporters.

I particularly love the description of Vance as 'Serpentine' as his deplorable behaviour is called out by the Guardian. What was stunning is that he was there at all. And that he was one of the principal bullies. This performance, combined with Rubio's sloppy sitting back and appearing impotent left the US no backstop to try to regain any credible position in diplomacy.

Ah, for the good old days when VPs knew how to behave properly in public press ops:

Beat up your girlfriend who is not the person that you are married to... You only get away with it if you're a Republican Congressman and there's a slim Republican majority in Congress.

Republican House member, Cory Mills [R-FL]

Police in Washington, D.C., are investigating assault allegations against Republican U.S. Rep. Cory Mills of Florida, but an official says the case has been sent back for further investigation and might never result in charges.

Officers were called Wednesday afternoon to a residence in the Wharf neighborhood “for a report of an assault,” according to a Metro Police Department statement. An incident report says the victim was a woman, and that no weapon was involved. No arrests were made, though police noted the case was still “an active criminal investigation.”

Stories that almost write themselves:

The 25-year-old man who launched the nationwide “Thank You Jesus” yard sign campaign has been charged with a felony sex offense, accused by sheriff’s deputies of possessing child pornography. Lucas Timothy Hunt of Asheboro was released from Randolph County jail after posting a $75,000 bond Tuesday, having been charged with second-degree sex exploitation of a minor, according to his arrest warrant. Sheriff’s deputies said in the warrant that Hunt received materials depicting two pubescent females engaged in a sex act. His next court appearance is set for March 19 in Asheboro.
