A little more background on Weiss and the CECOT scandal.

Weiss's take on CECOT wasn't how shameful or illegal the torture prison was...it was about the use of it by conservatives as a background for their own political promotion
pics and vids...

And this is always the problem I have with Weiss and her messaging. She only ever sees it all as about media from a distance. All about the media players and rarely, if ever about the
people and the core of the actual story.

“Ford (Irish immigrant father)
Wright Bros (German immigrant grandfather)
Fermi (Italian immigrant)
von Braun (German immigrant)”
— Keith Edwards on Twitter, responding to Miller’s absurd and hateful post.

I would add that Americans were so afraid of Jews that they wouldn't let them land. Too bad that
didn't happen with Miller's family.

What Miller is saying though, is that in a country whose original wealth and power was literally founded on the ownership
of black slaves...and subsequently on the exploitation of labour (including from Asia)...the non-whites, including Mexicans and
other (that he considers) third world countries who have then come to do all the hard work that again has supported
the creation of wealth in the US should not have been allowed entry.

I suspect that alternative history would have been based on modern day re-slaving of the blacks.

If you have the misfortune of living in a Republican Congressional District, you have good reason to fire your overpaid, lazy Representative. They did little to earn their pay, including the 52 days that they were paid but not at work during the government shutdown. Have you ever been paid for doing nothing at work for 52 days?

The 2025 Congress passed only 38 bills in 12 months. Meanwhile, Trump signed Trump has signed 224 executive orders, about 3 times as many as Biden signed in his first year (which was also in the midst of the pandemic!). Only FDR and Woodrow Wilson signed more executive orders but that was during WWI and WWII.

Congress Sets Records in 2025 for Longest Shutdown, Fewest Bills, Retirements

The 119th Congress made history in numerous ways, including the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, the fewest bills passed, and a growing number of retirements.

This year’s Republican-majority Congress set several records — “some more dubious than others,” wrote Washington Post senior congressional columnist Paul Kane.

There were only 38 bills passed by this Congress (as of Monday, Dec. 22), Kane found from a review of C-SPAN archives and data compiled by Purdue University, which “set a modern record for lowest legislative output in the first year of a new presidency.”
WaPo graph on bills passed by each Congress...

A contributing factor to this “lack of productivity” was President Donald Trump’s increasing use of executive orders, often controversial and subject to multiple court challenges. So far in his second term, Trump has signed 224 executive orders, compared to the 52 he signed in 2017 and more than he did during his entire first term. President Joe Biden signed 76 in 2021, his first year in office. Trump has currently signed more than 70 percent of the all the executive orders that Biden and President Barack Obama signed during their cumulative 12 years in office...

So far, 24 Republicans and 19 Democrats are heading for the exit door, including Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) who are retiring, Reps. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) and Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) who are running for the U.S. Senate, and Reps. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and Nancy Mace (R-SC) who are running for governor in their states. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) was running for New York governor but recently announced she was dropping out of the race and retiring from Congress as well, a remarkable fall after she gave up her leadership position when Trump nominated her as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations but then her nomination was withdrawn amid concerns about defending the GOP’s razor-thin majority.

So why can't I just drive drunk in my own car if you're sober? Hines, by the way, had all their kids vaxxed and wouldn't allow any unvaxxed people in their house for a party at the height of Covid.

Senator Joseph McCarthy.

Who gave us Roy Cohn.

Who mentored Trump.

Who twisted an entire politcal party into a psychopathic machine.

Like MTG. Who is now looking for redemption in the public eye.

I'm not an MTG fan and she still has a lot of self-examination that she needs to do.

However, she is sounding more and more like the Christian that she's claimed to be for years.

If nothing else, I'm glad she finally found Matthew 6:12-14.

Maybe this is just another one for the 'Biggest Regrets' thread?

And another one about to jump the Trump train.

Better late than never?

"Meet Aimee Bock, mastermind of Massive Minneapolis Minnesota fraud scheme.
She lured Somalis into opening daycares & wellness centers promising millions in Fed Govt funding.
Most never got paid, she kept $250M and they closed...Somali's were the victims, whistleblowers."

With a 1950s style car sitting on a beach somewhere. How obvious can they be about where they want to take us?

I would push back to the author, that to anyone paying attention, derailing critical infrastructure projects was pretty much in the plan from the get-go, and somebody was willfully deceiving themselves into believing it would not happen to them.

Sooner or later, der Trumpenführer will come for you. Everything Trump touches, dies.

What makes it even more astonishing is that a country whose intial wealth and existence was only possible by enslaving hundreds of thousands of people from Africa and stealing land from
the indigenous peoples.

But 'Murica. Fuckin eh, right?

Meanwhile:

FOX does know that Biden is retired now don't they? He has no official position at all.

Of course they do. It just shows how bankrupt they are.
