2010: I came out for the first time, to my dad, in the middle of a power cut (yes, really)

The lights went out, we sat in the darkness waiting for the power to come back on, and we ended up talking, and I brought up the subject, and I got upset, and then I said to him "I'm gay."

And he was fine about it, and I had been worrying about nothing. I'm very grateful and lucky to have a dad like him.
