So, here's the thing, if the Biden Admin is really going to put the environment and people before corporate profit - will they even bother to look at situations like this - and no you can't blame this one on the toad.

The rights of the leaseholders to mine are established - long before there was anything recognized as the "environment," and long before anyone really knew just how much poison these things generate. There's no question this pit mine would pollute, and there's probably no question it would also be profitable or they wouldn't be trying.

And is anyone going to bother listening to the Paiute?

I wonder what Deb might do? Maybe that question is part of the reason the pubs hate her so.

All this is about is trying to juice their stock price.

The Southwest has a very long history of dealing with mining disasters and pollution, and yes it's usually the natives who got fucked. Uranium mines caused cancer to skyrocket, slurry coal mines polluted the artesian wells and the river, precious metal mines used cyanide recklessly, it goes on and on. Plus a bunchg of that land is reservation that isn't covered by the EPA and the Fed can do wtih as it pleases no matter what the natives have to say about it.

I used to buy shares in many of them so that I could complain as a shareholder.

So, now we'll see what the commitment is beyond the rhetoric. This issue goes way beyond mining in the Southwest, there's all that fracking, over-fishing in the gulf, ANWAR, Flint and other compromised municipalities, the state of our national parks, and quite finally the cosmetic yet polarizing issue of Mt. Rushmore - and if Deb gives it back to the Sioux, which is what the ethical do with stolen property, what happens then?
