Ann Romney's $1,050 Shirt - It Looks Good On Her

It's an ugly shirt.

Don't these people have handlers who advise them not to wear clothes like this when they're out pleading for your vote? If they do, they'd better fire them and get someone better. That's what Mitzy likes to do anyway.

We can't afford someone like The Romneys in the White House. Besides, why do they want to move into government housing anyway? That would be a step down for hem.

He would remodel it!

I really could care less what the Romney family spends their money on. I'm more concerned about what the Obama crew is spending my money on.

Soon, President Obama won't be spending your money on tax cuts for billionaires and the Iraq war.

Oh great! Now the taxpayers will have to give Michelle a #500,000 trip to Paris or somewhere so she can guy a more expensive shirt than Mrs Romney.
How soon the hypocrites forget. John Kerry was extremely wealthy, far more than Mitt, and you loved him.

I don't think you read that right. I wasn't attacking Romney and his wife for their wealth. I took a shot at the leeches on society that think that these ultra wealthy people are looking out for their interests.

John Kerry also favors raising taxes for billionaires just like George Soros; raising taxes actually HURTS the ultra wealthy, so neither would actually benefits from raising taxes.

seems like a lot for a shirt

my banana republic v-neck tees go for $25 normally but I wait for the discounts - lots of great colors btw - check it out

fits nicely

what is this thread about again?

Personally, I couldn't care less what Ann Romney spends on shirts or what Michelle Obama spends on running shoes. They have money so I don't begrudge them spending it (it's all economic stimulation anyhow) but someone in the Romney camp should really know better than to have her parade around on the campaign trail in a designer shirt at the same time he's trying to connect with the common man.

It's not like Mitt and Ann can possibly be UNAWARE of what people are saying about their wealth and his inability to come off as down to earth or approachable. It's in the news almost daily, so where are the handlers? Who's advising them?

By the way, if we're talking about value for money, I'm sure Michelle's $450 running shoes are going to get a lot more use than Ann's $1000 shirt (I mean, honestly, WHEN can she wear it again?) but, again, they can spend their money on anything they want.

Considering the the brouhaha over Sarah Palin's wardrobe, it's just not smart and SOMEONE in that campaign should know better.

And before anybody brings up Michelle Obama spends this, that, or the other, let me say that President Obama doesn't have the same image issue that Mitt does so it really doesn't matter at this particular time.

Two words: Image Consultant

You don't understand. Republicans believe in Capitalsm and the great American dream. We do not resent wealth. But the Obama's preach class warfare and class resentment. So when they spend extravagantly and waste huge amounts of taxpayer money on shopping vacations, it undermines their message.

I understand the point of the thread but I think its presented wrong.
Watched a bit of a stupid "American Pickers" junk buyers on cable the other night. There they take this half stuffed elephant to Jack White, lead singer of the White Stripes home where he buys this ugly thing for 12 K. This isn't a reality for me even if I had $12,000 to waste on something that silly. However I still enjoy the music and relate to his lyrics.
The same with million dollar art work Lars Ulrich of Metallica buys. Most of his fans will never ever had a painting on their wall that cost $500 bucks let a lone a million dollars.
Certainly if I was wealthy I would buy different quality or fun stuff that I wouldn't even think of now, yet that doesn't remove one from the reality of the majority.

Because some of us choose to do so when we are making the money...

Wal-Mart and Target? You know sometimes it's better to spend a little more on better quality. And besides that H&M and Foreign Exchange have nicer, better quality clothes for similar pricing.

truer words have never been spoken ;)

JQ - NEVER and I mean NEVER buy clothes at those stores .............

you have your orders

Yeah, I mean, come on. I am a poor student and even I don't buy my clothes at Wal-Mart O.o

Anyway, I love that the Republicans believe in the American Dream. Now I can finally stop worrying about them.

I agree. To a certain extent you do make an investment in clothing.

If you buy cheap stuff it won't last long. The stuff is often poorly tailored, made of inferior material, and put together quickly.

JQ - start buying some classic clothing - good quality, stuff that won't go out of style. You'll feel better about yourself and it will help you land a better job too.

You should have read this in the Offical Gay Guide for Living, page 238, sections 1 thru 18.

I have to spend a lot more to get only a little better quality. I still haven't found a brand name set of cargo pants that's actually durable. Some of them, which I got at Fred Meyer, didn't make it through a summer.

As the song says, it ain't 't necessarily so. I can afford more but I buy some things at Wal Mart. As summer approaches, for instance, if you want thin, cool camp style shirts, I suggest WM.

It's an ugly shirt.

Thanks Bob... that is a sinful amount of money to spend for a ass ugly shirt... It may make a nice painting but a shirt it is NOT.

Neither side is connected to the people. They have absolutely no reference point. But people can like Obama when talking to him. Romney is not likable or genuine looking.

Sorry I quoted Bob before reading on.... this has become the politically leaning fashion forum. I love everything clothing and will buy SOME items at Target but not walmart. Target carries decent champion sportswear like shirts and dry-fit shirts. Those I can pay 10 bucks for because I go through them a lot no matter the manufacturer. And yes I have used the Nike, Merrell, North Face and Prana.. the workout style stuff still falls apart... yet I digress. The normal wear stuff i refuse to shop for at discount places. They fit wrong. They look out of date. they wash terribly and it is just a waste of money.

I would much rather spend 75 bucks on a pair of Prana pants that last as long as I am that size. I dunno... i just cant do a po-dunk look. hell even when I get my cowboy clothes on I look like a rhinestone cowboy with funky boots and diamond studded belt buckles....

JQ the clothes make the man. You cry and moan no one wants you? Wrap the package better. It is all about marketing and wlamart clothes says nothing but special. Hell you wrap yourself in the flag all the time... go to American eagle and get some of that stuff. Unless your over thirty then be selective... the giant design shirt with skulls look ridiculous on a forty year old man....

End Rant...girl when we going shopping?

^ Did you see the latest on Bill Maher ?

Romney at a richie rich's house (compound really) talking about how democrats don't want anyone to "live like this"

the man is a walking foot in mouth freak show

Target is only good for regular t-shirts or v-necks that you put other, nicer clothes over.

I usually shop at Zara, H&M, Foreign Exchange and Guess. Some things are more expensive, some things about the same (as compared to target or wal-mart). I guess it depends on what one does in their life. I also have a few clothes from "Rock and Religion" (which is not cheap by any means). This is very much urban wear.

I've never even heard of those.

I need clothes that I can get down on my knees in grass or dirt or sand or gravel or bark dust, climb trees to trim them, roll on the floor with Bammer. I've spent $65 for a pair of cargo pants and they didn't even last a year. I get Russel tees, vee-neck, regular, and sleeveless, usually for twelve bucks, and they last three years or more. If I learned that Walmart had cargo pants that would last me two years, I wouldn't care about the source, I'd get them.

R&R Jeans

It's more urban wear then anything. Everybody has their own purposes. I save up my money for what I wear. I mostly wear the pairs of jeans I own from R&R for going out...

But I realize I never really addressed the $1,050 shirt that Ann Romney owns... it's ugly... and that's me being kind. In all honesty, it's f-king atrocious.

I don't know if I find it ugly -- I'd call it "interesting". It's the sort of thing I'd wear... nowhere I can think of.

But for the price of it, I could buy two years' worth of clothes (if I could just find some durable cargo pants, make that three years worth).

LOL.....It is hilarious reading about Kuli and Giancarlo discussing clothing...........they are polar opposites.

Kuli is a country boy who wants tough clothes that can get dirty

Giancarlo doesn't understand that rural, small towns don't have stores like H&M, Zara, Foreign Exchange, and Guess. And Kuli doesn't want "urban" clothes anyway.........he's a country boy

. . .rural, small towns don't have stores like H&M, Zara, Foreign Exchange, and Guess.

I don't think Oregon has them stores at all. I have never heard of them and I go to Portland a lot.
