Do you know anyone who has been under the influence of drugs or alcohol?

Re: The Anne. The Coke. The Crash. The Coma

I just watched 15 seasons of ER in 5 months when my foot was broken, I know enough about medicine and burns to known that generally if there is damage to the nasal passage (hair burned) and lungs (Cilia burned) death is imminent that hair will not grow back! if the burns are around 80-90% you are also a goner!

Re: The Anne. The Coke. The Crash. The Coma

To be brutally frank if she was driving under the influence of coke then she was already brain damaged

Re: The Anne. The Coke. The Crash. The Coma

If she was driving under the influence, she only has herself to blame.

Re: The Anne. The Coke. The Crash. The Coma

As of this morning, her family says she is not expected to survive.

Due to being a victim of molestation at the hands of her father. This is why #metoo is a legit movement, compassion needs to become a thing and we can't continue to ignore mental health and make it available to only a select few. Anne had all the resources in the world and didn't survive her trauma (not talking about the accident), how much worse does someone who isn't an A-list actress fare? Anyone who is a victim of sexual abuse during the formative childhood years, it's a miracle if they don't suffer this same fate. Anne isn't the exception she's the rule.

Drugs and alcohol are a form of self-medication, wagging fingers at them hasn't proven an effective method beyond making the finger-wagger feel like they're better than everybody else. The irony of this faux-moral righteousness is it compounds preexisting trauma, driving further substance abuse and putting EVERYONE at risk, if not the user themselves.

If I knew someone was drunk and about to drive I'd get them help not put my hands on my hips and go "See now this is wrong! Shame on you!" That's the old school way. Wildly useless.

Someone wake me when we live in a society that's as comfortable holding men accountable for their violence as they are tsk tsk tsk'ing victims for not emerging from that abuse with golden angel wings.

Re: The Anne. The Coke. The Crash. The Coma

Or maybe the father that raped her?

I have little sympathy for anyone who comes to harm as a result of driving whilst under the influence of drugs or alcohol. That's the case whether they were raped 40 years ago or not. I think the jury is still out on whether the drugs in Heche's system were administered by the hospital or taken before she got in the car. I'm just grateful she didn't injure anyone else in the crash.

I like my title ;-)

Im put off by the owner of the home hiring a Hollywood lawyer. It doesnt seem right. Just hire a lawyer, not a Hollywood lawyer.

I was unimpressed by Ellen's response but maybe she is told to be stand-off-ish / to distance herself from the situation, but a more heart warming response from her would have been nice. Anne may be an X, but you dont wish 'ill will' on an X, or do you?

I went to look at Ellen response and her response is being deemed as 'cold'

feel sorry for her two sons ---who they say were the center of her life---apparently not----not a responsible Mommy move.

Typical male prognosis: It's her fault she wasn't able to cope with the sexual violence inflicted upon her by an authority figure, her own father.

If you guys think drug abuse is uncommon for victims of molestation i compel you to visit a support group for survivors. Be prepared to put on your judge's robe, you're gonna hear a lot of stuff that's gonna make you wanna wag fingers and go "How could any responsibile adult do this?"

PS: "I feel sorry for her sons but not for her" is some Trump-level doublespeak.

^^^A very astute observation and analysis - and I agree with you.

And per the title I can't lie, it is very much giving me Time Magazine cover.

I only told half her story. Father who raped her died of AIDS. Brother killed himself. Mother told her she's going to hell for being a lesbian. She made terrible choices, but so did a lot of people in her life. It's called abuse. And again, this outcome for backgrounds like hers is the rule not the exception. These things will happen less when we invest more resources into mental healthcare, not just throwing a bunch of antidepressants that don't even work at the population like m&ms. I mean, it works for the profiteers but for the mentally ill and depressed, notsomuch.

How will the world go on without her ceaseless string of brilliant performances?

Exactly. More interested in getting coked up than being a mother.
She is no better than the [Text: Removed] who stagger from one drug hit to another

I'm very sorry her life turned out so horrible, and that no one fought to rescue her. Now people seek to verbally piss on her grave. Give her some respect.

I had no idea who she was when I watched her in Hung. The hype for her onscreen talent was deserved, def not just another pretty skinny blonde, she took a forgettable side character and made it feel like a lead.

Sad truth is when you experience the things she has, death is the closest you ever get to peace.
