1st post! I've gone through the Ass sticky thread too.

I haven't done much bottoming at all, couple times in the past but that's all. I've recently been seeing someone for a couple months now and we have yet to actually have penetrative sex, he is pretty much just a top. Since I haven't bottomed in years I never really cared or paid any attention to my bowel movements or eating the recommended daily amount of fiber. I work extremely long hours and not really a fan of using public toilets for taking a crap, which has led to some constipation since I end holding it in all day - which is obviously not the healthiest thing to do.

Ever since I wanted to jump into bottoming, I started eating healthy, drinking water, and taking some Metamucil a couple times a day. I only get to see my boyfriend once or twice a week, so I've been trying to have an "empty" ass every time I see him - that's the problem. My rectum rarely seems to empty, even after a large bowel movement, I always mange to feel something in there - I've even sat on the toilet for an hour trying to get the rest of it out once. If I eat regularly the day before, say Friday, how can I expect to be completely empty come Saturday night - can't food take more than 24h to pass through your digestive system?

Do I have to not eat anything the a whole day before? Are there any other fiber supplemental or laxatives that would work? I've never tried the douche or enema, are they just for smaller pieces of fecal matter??

I just fear my boyfriend is going to start getting frustrated, he's been asking why
we can't fuck.. and I'm too embarrassed to say "Sorry buddy, my rectum ain't empty" ..

Sorry for the super long and gross post.

It's not long or gross and welcome to the forums. :) As a bottom it's good to be clean for your top. You're gonna have to try a small amount of douching before hand if you want more confidence in being clean. Use a small amount of clean warm water and see if that works for you. Also, don't become obsessive with douching. You can do more harm than good. Take it slow and listen your body.

Good luck kiddo.

Is it legitimately like there is something there or is it just a feeling that it is not empty? The feeling that it is not empty after you have gone to the toilet is called Rectal Tenesmus. It can be indicative of bowel issues which should be checked out by a doctor or a gastroenterologist.

I have some bowel "issues" and I went to a gastro and was able to pin-point the issues. Nothing to worry about, but its always good to be on top of things.

Another thing, it sounds like you've had a huge and drastic change in terms of diet, exercise, that can cause issues with the bowel trying to adjust (in a sense).

GiancarloC is correct, eat varied sources of fibre, and try to get at least 30 grams a day (i think is the recommended).

You've done the things that are recommended- eating more fiber, drinking plenty of water, etc.

The question is whether your rectum is not empty or whether this is more of an anxiety thing. Tenesmus is a physical condition. Fear/embarassment about bowel movements is more psychological.

You can try a small douche. Most grocery stores sell a disposable squeeze bottle type enema. Some people prefer to empty the saline from the enema and replace it with clean water.

If you do try an enema, think of it in the same way you think of gargling- taking in a limited amount of water, rinsing and spitting it out. As such, you will take in the water, let it stay in for a short while and the you evacuate it over the toilet. Generally once is enough.

If there's no stool in the water, then your issue isn't that you have something in your rectum- the issue is that you are afraid of having something in your rectum.

It's not that it feels full, it's that it's all still in the rectum. I always check with a finger, it's weird that everything in my rectum doesn't want to come out.

I am a total bottom. I douche before every hookup because I hate shit. Like you, I always had shit in my rectum when I practiced with dildos.

Also, I feel more relaxed and the sex is more enjoyable for me knowing that I am clean. I use plain water in an old Fleet enema bottle. It works great. I am usually clean a few hours after douching.

I hope this information helps. Best wishes!

I'm going to try an enema.. Probably on the weekend.

Couple of questions though, how long is prepping for anal? I've been reading some things online, let's say I want do anal Saturday night. Do I need to not eat solid foods as early as Thursday? Should I use an enema Saturday morning and then again in the afternoon?

Thanks for the responses everyone!

You just need to avoid a big meal within a few hours of bottoming. As food moves through your digestive tract, it pushes everything forward- much like a train. After you eat, you start that movement process, so you're more likely to have stool in your rectum.

Usually prepping immediately before sex is optimum time. Sometimes that is not easy when you're with a stranger, so you may want to do it within 1-2 hours before the big event. And keep in mind that you're just cleaning out the rectum with a small amount of water- not the entire colon.
