anonymous TicTok user exposes Outback Steak House microwaves the lobsters

Eh, I'm still horking 'em down.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's a load of hogwash, though.

I've worked in many restaurants from trashy diners to fine dining which is why I don't eat at them anymore.

When I click on the link, it doesn't take me to the article, but to a page to download a Microsoft browser.

I don't get the article either. I get a page called "Microsoft Start" which is basically an MSN newsfeed. I guess they know Linux can't run their stupid Edge browser; nor do I want to. Any article I click redirects me back to the same page. Not a fan of Microsoft.

Sorry but this guy sounds like an idiot.

The method and/or the device used means nothing. It's the final product results.

"Steamed" is not Gourmet. The "lobster" in itself is the Gourmet.

You can steam a lobster tail in anything that will provide that steam.

Outback has those lobster tails timed perfectly in the microwave.

The real tragedy would be if they are overcooked and rubbery. That can happen while steaming on a stovetop or microwave. Either way the customer would send it back and Outback wouldn't be selling lobster tails.

Also. With commercial microwaves you have more heat control than residential.

They have a tried and true method that works.

I have never been to Outback Steakhouse - the smell of cooked beef makes me sick usually. I mostly eat at fresh seafood or breakfast or falafel restaurants.

Many Many years ago I remember going to a new Chinese restaurant and they would put the meat right in the microwave oven right in front of you. The place didn't last too long.

I remember a local eatery with sole on the menu and then finding they had microwaved a frozen cutlet with no seasonings whatsoever...the ownthing er's didn't like fish.

They did not last any time at all...

We used to call their buffet 'The Red Wedding', because everything was smothered in Tomato sauce...are there twice and then thought 'fuck it', these are locals who shouldn't be foisting this shit on any sentient life form.

If they get good results, I don't care if they microwave it. I love how these people love to tattle tell some shocking secret that doesn't mean shit.

The idea of eating a living thing that was boiled alive sickens me on so many levels and I don't understand why it doesn't bother more people...

yeah, the real tea is the dumpster area, or video of cooks handling raw products then readytoeat products without changing gloves. when i worked in restaurants management hated me cuz if you look at me the wrong way i'm changing gloves, let alone if i touch something.

If they wanted gourmet, why didn't they go to Ponderosa? They don't even have lobsters in Australia - it's probably kangaroo.

Yup^

Gloves are not changed and hands are not always washed.

2 other persistent restaurant issues that cause contamination are Dishwasher water temperature not hot enough. And ice cube machines are rarely shut down and cleaned/sterilized.

I don't even wanna think about the dishwashing pit. The ultimate nightmare is when it goes down and they have to be washed by hand. They'll use the same water with half a squirt of handsoap in it all day long.
