That man should sue himself for battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence. He should also seek a preliminary injunction to stop himself from self abuse.

Also: already seen GHB being used as a party drug and it didn't answer my question. Everything I've found out about it makes me wonder about it even more. If you take juuuuuuuuuuuuuuust the right amount, it may "enhance the experience of being in a club" (Wikipedia). But even that's not nearly a guarantee. More often, it seems, it just makes you stupid. Not stupid as in 'people are stupid', but actual '50 IQ points' stupid, or 'ending up at the ICU' stupid (party I went to a while ago had that, and apparently it's common).

I guess I just don't get (gay) club culture. At all.

Because the world is a terrible place and drugs take your mind off that. Also -not unimportantly when in gay places- it reduces your critical faculties to the point you can actually have carefree sex.

Exactly the answer I had in mind. (also: 'people are stupid creatures')

There are so many sad/scary things in that answer that I can't even get my head around it. Is the world really that terrible for so many people that they feel they need to take dangerous (possibly life-threatening) substances? Why would anyone consider reducing theircritical faculties a good thing? Why would anyone want to have carefree sex (by which I presume you mean 'lots of unsafe and indiscriminate sex')?

Now I know why gay parties sadden me... :(
