  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Another liar Christian: "Miss Beverly Hill" isn't Miss Beverly Hills.

Well, except the vast majority of pedophiles are straight and we all know that.

The vast majority of Christians... well..

As far as sissy goes.. you say that as if it's a bad thing.

I think he meant 'sissy' as in effeminate wimp, as opposed to the tough, macho, motorcycle-ridin' hunk of studliness we all know you to be. :sex: :sex:

I would dearly love it if you would respond to my gentle remonstrance, whether you agree or disagree. Have I given you something to think about at least?

I'll be as fem as I want... doesn't hurt anyone. Unlike Prop 8, preaching against gay people or beating their wives in the name of the lord.

Not really.

I grow tired of Christians getting their panties in a bunch with the "we're not ALL like that" bullshit when I always just snap back "no, you're virtually all like that."

Shuts them up. Because they know I'm right.

How do you know what the vast majority of Christians are? I don't know you at all, but I can already tell you have some serious bias. I'll be the first to admit that there are bad Christians out there and probably a lot of them, just like there are a lot of bad homosexuals, bad jews, blacks, parapeligics and so on. Humans are fucked up in general. Christianity despite what the "vast majority" would like to believe, has been the most loving and accepting influence I've ever been exposed to. My last pastor knowing full well that I was gay, pulled me aside after one of her services and straight up gave me $300 with absolutely no strings because I was having some serious money issues. That's just one example, I can list dozens.

Just because some ignorant moron goes on tv and spouts off about stuff she really doesn't even understand is no reason to attack people or the religon as a whole. It just makes you look just as ignorant as her.

How do you know what the vast majority of Christians are?

Well... where did the vast majority of the money to pass prop 8 come from?

Where did the bill itself come from?

Who attacks the gay community the most?

How does a politician shore up is Christian base? By maybe... saying something like "Rosa Parks didn't move to the front of the bus to defend sodomy?" And when they say those things... Who speaks out against them?

Because I'll tell you... I only see the gay community coming out against bullshit like that. Maybe I missed the press release from the United Church.. But I don't think so.

Just adding the word 'many' before the word 'Christian' would fix it IMO.

Or, better yet, "too many" - which doesn't necessarily mean a majority of them (as "many" makes it sound), but that it's still a lot more prevalent than it should be.

Christianity has more blood, repression, and hatred on its hands than any other single entity in the history of the world.

But I don't think it's even close to a MAJORITY of Christians who are that way - however, too many Christians will tend to defend their religion under all circumstances, and many will overlook the excesses of those in the power structure of said religion of whichever denomination. I have a number of intensely Christian straight guy-friends (even in places like Oklahoma) who know fully well that I'm gay, and they would still defend me to the death.

Christianity is no different than politics, really - in order to ascend to the top of the power structure in either, a person usually has to be an exploitative, selfish, hypocritical asshole. And in Christianity it's the people who worship the power structure more than worshiping Christian values themselves, who are usually the most vocal and who usually give the most money. And too many others are turned into hateful people by following the role models of the Christians who are the most visible in the media and such.

Well, it's not going to shut me up, because you're NOT right. "Virtually all" means "for practical purposes, all." There are Christians in the trenches of the gay rights movement, and supporting us all the time. John Spong (the former Episcopal Bishop of Newark) has written and preached extensively in favor of gay rights.

There are many more examples. Just because you choose to ignore them doesn't mean they don't exist.

Yes, a lot of people who call themselves "Christian" are bitter, rotten, evil, gay-hating people. But you seem to treat them all as if they're the Westboro Baptist Church, and that's just not fair. I think you're acting out of the oppression you've experienced at the hands of self-professed Christians, and that's understandable, but not a virtue.

I believe the largest single contributors are the mormons with roughly 40%, but I could be wrong. This is a problem that a lot of people fall into with Christians, with all the different denominations when one particular falls on the side of something like this people consider them as Christians as a whole. The Catholics and Mormons and a few others have put out a stance that conflict with a lot of other denominations. I'm strictly a bible study Christian and don't really pay too much attention to all of the different factions.

That I don't know specifically. If I had to guess I would again say it was probably certain denominations supporting it. Even so, I'm pretty sure my question was how do you know that the vast majority of Christian's are liars...how the ban on gay marrige has anything to do with that I don't know...but please keep ranting.

Probably people who hate gay people. Christian's are supposed and in my experiences do, love their brothers and not to judge.

Obviously you do, and your fairness and objectivity is inspiring.

It's fairly obvious what you think, and it's petty and insulting. You would think that a gay man above anyone else would know the dangers of letting blind anger and stereotypes rule you. I'll be the first to admit that there are a lot of hatemongers out there, but you're not proving any point with your tirade you're just becoming one of them.

The Mormons spent $20 million telling lies about Prop h8, and about gay people. The majority probably couldn't have existed without their "help."

However, calling Mormons "Christian" is stretching the truth a bit.

then where are they?

Why are the only Christians you see out there waving their crosses in the faces of Prop8 Protestors? Why, when they release stats, do a majority of Christians always oppose even the slightest toe-hold of rights for us?

Why is it that when someone like Fred Phelps comes to town, its' up to the Gays and college students to counter-protest him?

It's cute that you think a dyslexic man like me could even attempt to read that garish mess.#-o

Eh, I doubt it really matters. Maybe you've had some horrible experiences, maybe you're just buying into the images and stereotypes that get portrayed in the media, or maybe you're ust a deeply unhappy person who see's an easy target with the Christians...either way I really doubt I'd be able to open your mind, you seem fairly content with your blind intolerance.

Or I'm sick of having more Christians attack me than Fred Phelps.

you wanna impress me?

Don't go after me... get your church to speak out against "Miss Beverly Hills" and do it publicly.

Because... funny.. I haven't seen a single church stand up to the Carrie Prejeans of the world. Just people like me for going after them.

Funny, that.

No, it's not Mormons... are Christians no?

If the umbrella of Christianity is big enough to include the lady in the OP, the Catholic church, and you in the choir on Sunday? Why are you leaving the Mormons out in the rain?

I'm not a Christian. Singing in the choir, giving money, participating in the life of the community, are not enough to qualify me.

To be a Christian you have to believe certain things. I don't believe those things. Neither do Mormons. They believe in Jesus Christ, but they don't believe the same things about him that Christians do.

Remember, I don't think that not being Christian makes you bad (duh). So I'm not "leaving Mormons out in the rain." I just don't think they fit the paradigm that makes something a type of Christianity.

Mormons aside, the lady in the OP does think that. As do many other Christians. So where is the divide? At what point does Christianity say enough is enough?

When do the people that love (Christians) confront the people that hate (also Christians)? They respect themselves enough to segregate into different denominations, yeah? When that act in and of itself is derisive to the actual message the majority preaches... We all, after all, are God's children, no?

I'm not sure what point you're making.

I'm not sure what point you're making.

The point is this. There are wolves in sheep's clothing... Westboro Baptist Church, Pat Robertson, the OP lady, Mormons, who are using the umbrella of Christianity to spout out some major bullshit.

And until Christians push 'em out of the boat, they are rowing with the same oars, and that boat is heading in the same direction.

The Bible does not encourage them to push them out of the boat but rather, indicates that god will winnow the wheat from the chaff.

THAT said, they're encouraged to monitor themselves and admonish where necessary. And the OT, which fundies LOVE to quote, teaches that cleansing in god's house, and the land is to start from the top down; so, the high priest and the king are to recieve judgement, from god, first.

We're just waiting for god to do his/her/it's thing but he/she/it sure seems to be taking his/her/it's time.

Yup.... well while we wait? Care to dance? !oops!
