More explicit than Sharon "Second Amendment Remedies" Angle, Stephen Broden threatens that if Republicans can't win fair and square, they'll take up arms against the legitimately elected government.

In an exchange during a TV interview, Broden, a South Dallas pastor, said a violent uprising “is not the first option” but it is “on the table.”

Palin endorsed Broden earlier this year, and Angle as well.

Whoa.

Theoretically, that option is always on the table; it's a fundamental right -- not that I think he really understands it.

As for the party representative who commented, I think we're a lot closer to needing a Second Amendment application than he seems to suggest -- but our real disagreement would lie in that I'm convinced it's close enough to give some thought to because of people like his candidate!

I'll point out, as the one who brought it up, so do Libertarians -- and we've been trying to get through to you liberal Demcorats that the greatest argument in generations for letting the Second be as soundly exercised as the first was George Cheney.

What the NRA fails to realize is that liberals will protect the ENTIRE constitution and not just the parts that they like. If radical conservatives ever gain power they'll use that NRA membership list to track down the guns. It's one thing seeking power. It's something else having it.

The way the liberals "protect" the Second Amendment would like like this if applied to the First:

  • federal license required to print or sell printed material
  • background check required for purchase of printed material
  • only certain types of printed material allowed
  • waiting period required before purchase of most printed material
  • surprise inspection of printing facilities with immediate shutdown and hefty fines if anything is so much as out of place
  • tax per page on all printed materials
  • registration of all purchasers of and subscribers to printed materials

Since there are liberals in Congress who want to ban guns because of how they look, take away all guns from citizens, impose financial penalties on the use of guns, etc. etc. ad nauseum, your claim that "liberals will protect the ENTIRE constitution and not just the parts that they like" is pure fantasy. And then there's the faction who want to just overrule the Second Amendment by getting us sign on to a U.N. treaty that imposes all the things that are so patently unconstitutional.

When I hear liberal leaders affirm publicly that the language of the Second Amendment is the strongest of that protecting individual rights in the Bill of Rights, because "infringe" means to even intrude on peripheral issues, and see such foes of liberty as Chuck Schumer, Diane Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, and more go down in blazing defeat, I might be willing to give some credence to your claim.

Seems pretty clear we have the right abolish the government when we have the need to do so. It's something the government needs to remember, that's all.

Men of God preached revolution back when George III was abusing the colonists; that's no big issue. Some even enlisted and carried -- and used -- weapons.

It's the second item you name that's the killer.

But Broden and Angle are advocating a minority abolishing the government of the United States, duly elected by the people.
