Another shooting, another 10 youth killed, and where is the Republican reaction?

Your ideology is protruding...as is your fanatacism...

LOL yeah Thomas is such a bastion of reasoned centrism. I suggest you go look him up before calling me the fanatic. In any event, the POINT is that there is plenty of gaming the system and political maneuvering going on in the judiciary, it's silly to think otherwise.

Guns only have a single purpose.
Your comparison is akin to knives versus bicycles.

What the soldier says is the reality. You know those old "wild west movies" that are on the history channels? Well, when there was a duel, one of them didn't get his gun shot out of his hand or one was shot in the shoulder and dropped his weapon. Usually it was the bystanders on the street watching who got shot and killed with the assailants running for the hills.

Why do you think the military created the large magazines that hold so many bullets? It wasn't because soldiers constantly fire the weapons in training; it was because when they fire under pressure on the battlefield, the spray will hopefully find at least one of the intended targets. It is the same thing for police automatics. When I started we carried .357's with six bullets. We also had two "speed loaders" on our belt so we could potentially fire 18 rounds. Of the instances when our officers had to fire, none of them struck and killed the assailant (and one was an expert shot who participated in competition events). The only one that did was with a shotgun.

The reason the Secret Service doesn't sling a bazooka over their shoulder when protecting the president is multifold:

1. The presence of weapons escalates problems.
2. People with mental issues often view others with weapons as a challenge and want to try to best them.
3. If they do shoot, they are likely to kill innocent folks surrounding the person being protected before they will find, target, and shoot the assailant.
4. They use their bodies to "take one" for the protected person and hopefully help identify where the shooter is located.

People that feel they have to have a large firearm strapped to their waist remind me of my visits to the Castro in San Francisco and seeing the guy with the big balls walking down the street naked and then stopping to have coffee. He likes the show but most likely can't use the damn thing and wouldn't know what to do if actually confronted. Same with these folks that think they have to have 50 guns in their house "in case" someone breaks in. I live in downtown DC and we don't lock our door half the time. If I have to have a gun in every corner, then I'm paranoid and should probably go on medication before I go get a weapon.

Most of the nut cases I get briefed on that belong to these militia groups live in the sticks and worry that the black helicopters and UN are coming to get them and their weapons. I'd guess most should be highly medicated and few should ever be allowed to possess a firearm.

And this is why people should not have guns. She opened fire on a property crime and "tried to shoot out the tires." She never hit the car despite unloading in a busy parking lot. She is fortunate no one was killed because she would be facing a charge of murder instead of what she now faces.

Reason #1 why people should stick to plastic toy guns if they don't have balls or a vagina; a gun adds nothing and only gets one into more trouble.

It would have been much more helpful for her to take out her cellphone and shoot pictures of the shoplifter’s license plate.

This is exactly what we did when we didn't catch the shop lifter in my old store and saw them get into a vehicle. There was absolutely no reason to use the gun here.

So I'm assuming that the push to actually do something about guns has once again died down as most Americans turn their attention to pumpkin spice lattes?

The American government should create a really special monument for the gun dead.
Something similar to the Vietnam war memorial but much bigger for the on going gun dead to hundreds of years into the future dead.

Actually a pretty good idea.....something right on the Mall in Washington.

Given that the number is now into the hundreds of thousands and that eleven attempts have been made on the lives of US presidents by gun wielding nuts...it certainly merits attention in the nation's capital.

nice piece on the 2nd Amendment: http://www.vox.com/2015/10/15/9540747/video-second-amendment-musket?ref=yfp

Seems to back my opinion about those gun advocates who say the amendment is there to allow ordinary citizens to resist a tyrannical US government; when any amount of common sense will tell you that even though the weaponry that citizens can possess (legally and illegally) that has gotten a lot more lethal since the amendment was written; a citizen's weaponry does not come anywhere near the weaponry that the US government posses through its military. Can anyone say Blackhawk helicopters or stealth fighters or NAVY SEALS :gogirl:

^^ Exactly. And the belief that the purpose of the 2nd amendment is there to protect against government would also enable the crazies to carry 50 mm machine guns mounted on their cars, drive tanks down the street, and have GPS guided bombs? It's a stupid reason advocated by the "we all should carry a gun" crowd.

What is more powerful than a gun is the smart phone you carry around in your pocket. All one has to do is watch what is happening in Israel or with the police abuses and that is how you deter a crazy government, crazy citizens, or sway public opinion. Why do you think North Korea and China don't allow Facebook? It's not because they dislike Mark Zuckerberg.

I am reminded that since 1968, the total is over 1.5 million Americans killed by guns...more than all the soldiers who have died in all the wars America has fought.

True with plenty of space to engrave the thousands of new names that will be added over the years. All of the gun violence in my Country makes me ashamed.

I'm not ashamed, I'm pissed off at people who think their "rights" (bogus fucking argument anyway) are more important than dead children.

58, O00 000 abortions since Roe v Wade. Guns pale by comparison. You have your abortions, others have guns. You win.

Why the preference to have kids that have been born slaughtered then?

There is NO connection between gun control and abortion. None. You may as well say that every debate about tax should be linked to abortions too.

I so love how you want to defend life yet see no problem with starving, stupifying, impoverishing, and killing that life once it pokes its head out of the womb. And when it screws up -- fry it! Yup...that's your right to life.

You are eager to kill innocent life but get all weepy at the idea of punishing vicious murderers. And it is you democrats who want more poverty; millions and millions more in a never ending ending flood.

Oh...there we go....it's those damn immigrants fault. At least your gate us predictable.
