Ok well I've read codeerrors thread and I was talking to Aries last night about how I need to get in shape and he said he was going to start a thread like codeerrors for motivation and I figured this is a pretty good idea so I'm gonna do the same.

I'm in the worst shape of my life at the moment, I've been steadily doing less excercise since I graduated two years ago. At uni I used to cycle 8-10miles each way and workout on top of that. I'm not unfit per say just not happy with my physique , I mean I'm fairly active, hiking climbing kitesports and that.

Ok so I'm living in a hotel right now becuase of work so I'm a bit limited as to what I can do for the next 6 weeks. The main thing is to clean up my diet, get some running going and use the gym facilites here. My goal is to build some bulk, lean up and uncover my abs again as they seem to have been...um...insulated for winter lol. I'm also gonna take progress pics as a bit of a kick up the arse for me, the first of which I'm gonna upload tomorrow.

Climb the stairs in the hotel. That is a real cardio-work out.

LOL I'm on the third floor and I virtually always use the stairs bro.
So I've downloaded a 10k training plan to my Forerunner and I'll be using that for my run training. I also bought a load of healthy stuff and cereal to eat instead of going out for dinner every night. Below are a couple of pics I took this morning.

BTW this is totally out of my comfort zone, I hate these pics, I dont look good !oops!. So please be nice.!

The pics are fine. You might keep a larger size on the attachments so that you can see your progress.

Also be sure to get a tape measure and get baseline measurements. You'll see changes in your measurements before you see it in the pictures or in your weight.

You've got the battle that most guys have after they begin work- retaining lean mass in the upper body and keeping adipose tissue from building around the waist. But that's why you're doing this thread.

Good luck and keep posting on your progress.

It's certainly a good idea.:D You've got a good starting point here.

One more hot thread to check regularly..
Can't wait for another update!;)

Kite.....

I too need to "shape up!"

With my birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas (read +5 to 20 lbs) just around the corner I just can't afford to gain another pound![-X

Let me know what you are doing...I'll join you.

Re: Another workout thread....What? Its a good ide

Well thats just over my first week of my workout and its not been an amazing start but I guess I'm just warming up lol. So I ran 3 times last week, 35min (3miles), 35(3miles), and 45mins (4miles), barefoot along the beach.

So this week it gets serious. I have downloaded a beginners 10k training schedule to my Garmin Forerunner and I'm going to follow it. I'm fit enough to bypass the first 4 weeks so I'm gonna kick it off at week 5. There's no hill trails I know well enough to include on the hill days so what I plan to do is run on the soft sand rather than the waters edge on these days. Cross training will take the form of interval training on the crosstrainer and stationary bike in the hotel gym.

If you want to train with me you can find a pdf of the plan at:

http://www.garmin.com/garmin/webdav...ness/plans/Garmin_Beginners_10K_programme.pdf

sorry I had to put a spaces in the http and .pdf but apprently I need 25post to be allowed to post a url

Feel the burn lol (!)

Good job!
Keep up the good work.:-)

Does this training schedule include the weight training, or do you have to add it?
