The children of lesbian parents are less likely to identify as heterosexual as adults and much more likely to report same-sex attraction, according to a long-term study by the Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law, a think tank focused on sexual orientation and gender.

Read more at the linked site.

Edit.

I'm still waiting for someone to figure out what determined my sexual attraction to guys and that no matter what an attractive naked female does to me I can't even get an erection.

I read the article in your link, every word of it.

The author correctly includes comments from the researchers that multiple explanations are possible. Some key points stood out to me:

1) Only 76 children of the lesbian couples constituted the sample size of lesbian-parented children. That's a pretty small sample, regardless of how long running the study has been.

2) The rate for women not indicating exclusive heterosexuality were much higher than male. The male rate was 90% among the sample, compared to 98% in the larger straight-parented sample. That reinforces the oft-denied statistic that gay men constitute less than 5% of the population.

3) A researcher quoted correctly stated that the cause may not be any single factor such as genetics, social mores, etc. That is in contradiction to the oft-asserted "fact" on JUB that same sex attraction is due to congenital causes in the womb or a gay gene. In other studies I have seen cited on JUB, males were addressed but not lesbians in the causes arising from hormones in the uterus.

4) This study has confirmed that children of lesbian couples are mentally healthy and not impacted by their parentage in a negative way in terms of mental health.

5) The findings again reinforce the prior research indicating women are more fluid in their sexuality, whereas men exhibit a much stronger tendency to one orientation over bisexuality or changing orientation.

I'm glad that there are long term studies ongoing. It will take a collection of them to figure out what is actually going on. The mixed results of this study pretty well indicate it isn't leaning for or against same sex parenting, which is encouraging when reading the results of any study.

Why are these conservatives worried about sexuality ALL the time ?

I still think it's a bit of both, nature AND nurture.

I hold that it is likely that the research may never be completed to find out. What incentive does anyone have to find it? Isolating a genetic factor would lead some gays and advocates to oppose such research due to the potential threat it poses to future gay populations. The same basically holds true for behavioral causations, as it returns to the argument that it is a behavioral aberration, which borders on being considered a malfunction by the heterosexual population.

Western governments have no incentive to fund such controversial research due to political blowback, and you don't really have to worry about brilliant scientists in Russia, India, and Africa working on it, despite their homophobia, as they have little available resources. China has the resources but doesn't care from all the evidence. That pretty much leaves wealthy Arab nations who might fund such research, but it seems unlikely.

I wonder if Mexico will. They have somewhat progressive social views, despite a Catholic dominance, or maybe because of it, and their government is large enough to look.

It's an interesting guessing game.

On the other hand, maybe the Nordic countries have incentive since they led the world in sex change operations and it is seen as a related area.

Also, although I am perfectly happy the way I am, if I was under threat of being stoned to death, I'd rather turn straight by any mean necessary. So, to me having the option to be "cured" especially in places like the middle east wouldn't be a bad thing.

I feel no loyalty to the gay population. Why should I die or go thru torture just so we can keep the numbers up?

I didn't read the whole article but did they live as lesbian or just say they were bi---its way easier for a girl to say she's bi than a guy....I've known several girls who have flirted with girl love for a while but ended up with a man.

I'll be honest. I know plenty of people who identify as bi for the sake of PC or whatever other reason but only stick with one gender when it comes to dating. My ex is one of them. Always identify himself as bi. Never had anu attraction to female. Never been with one. Told me couldn't ever imagine himself ever sleeping with one. But always identify himself as bi for whatever reason.

and I know a number of "gays", both male and female, who sleep with the opposite sex with some regularity. Go figure. It's all politics.

My experience has always been that men aren't as forthcoming as women are about their homosexual attractions as they are their heterosexual attractions. I don't really think any "scientific" research proves much of anything and I don't think it ever will.

The point being that researchers are not self-employed. Someone pays for research and studies. There has to be a funder with a reason to know. Pure science is rarely a motivating factor for social science.

It's not social science. Finding out the cause of homosexuality will be a huge benefit to humanity. It will help greatly with people who relate more to rabbits than actual human beings.

People have been trying to determine a cause for longer than I've been alive. There are far-too-many possibilities to narrow it down to just one. A single cause will never be found because there isn't one.

The disparity seems simple to me: the poor girls are reared by unhappy, unmarriagable women who blame all of their problems on men, and encourage their daughters to hate men, cut their hair short, and dress like a longshoreman. No wonder some of them identify as gay.

I was talking about girls who actually slept with girls --not just identify as bi---but ended up with men--it's easy for a girl to rub pussy with another girl and kiss and play for political and other reasons --a guy has to get a boner to play with a guy and that isn't always possible.

I've known and had sex with men who identified as straight but who enjoyed sex with men. In my case they were out for pleasure, no more, no less.
I once knew a porn star who was straight but who loved getting fucked because he thought that cuming while getting fucked was a great orgasm, arguably a more profound and complex one than simply fucking. I once flip-fucked with a straight friend--a very sexual guy--who wanted to test the proposition. Afterwards he agreed.
