Any guys here get pedicures? I am thinking about starting a habbit where I go once a month. I always use to hate my feet and never wear flip flops or go barefoot. What exactly can a pedicure do? Do any guys get them done on a regular basis?

I check other guy's feet in the gym, not because I'm into feet, but as a gauge to see how well the guys take care of themselves. I find it a turn off when I see the toe nails too long or discoloured.

I know a guy who gets pedicures regularly because he has a problem with ingrown nails.

I had a pedicure in asia once, following a month long trekking, but my feet hurt afterwards for the next few days, so I prefer to do it myself.

Before I give you my answer, I have a question for you; what is the condition of your feet?

Fine as far as I know. I clip my nails and take as good of care of them as I can. I am just self conscience I guess.

I check out guys who wear flip flops all the time. I can not stand seeing long, cracked, yellow nails or dirty feet. My attitude is, if your gonna show them off make sure they look decent.

okay, I'll 'fess up. Get a mani/pedi at least once a month and it's become one of my preferred rituals. Soaking in the jacuzzi footbath, getting the foot and leg massage that goes with getting my toenails trimmed, cuticles cleared, and nails buffed (yeah, like them shiny, but without polish).
and if that makes me a big ole girl--fine by me! feels good, so I do it.

I'll get my nails done, but I have a thing about people touching my feet, so I do it myself.

I'm the say exact way. I feel kind of embarassed making an appointment and then showing up. I may even call around and ask a spa or salon if they have a big male clientele. I think even sitting in the waiting room I'm gonna be uncomfortable. Still, I hope once I do it my fear will go away. If I don;t think they look any better than what i can do I may just pay close attention to what they do and try to do it myself once a month.

tons of straight guys in the big cities get pedicures too. of course i do, every month or so. occasionally clear polish, but mainly just buffed, its nice and relaxing, not too expensive either.

Well, I didn't really see what difference it made although all my friends raved on and on. I have healthy nails and keep them nice so, spending the money on my feet would be better on a massage. Incidentally the place I went to gives you a foot massage as well.

So other than the great massage I got, my feet didn't look much different and it wasn't worth having someone deal with my patas. Had to tip them good just cuz I wouldn't want to mess with strangers feet, even my pretty ones:D

You can have a clear polish put on them? Really? How does that look? Whats this for? I've never heard of that. I see where women have a nice very thing white outer line on the tips of their nails. I think on women this is really sexy and hot. Not sure how that would look on a guy. I hate short nails. Thanks for the replies. Something to think about.

It's a clear coat that is used as a base layer or on top of a color. I see a lot straight guys, mostly executives, at the nail salon I go to. You can also use subtle shades like soft pinks that are almost imperceptable, unless someone looks at your toes closely.

Guys look very hot with painted nails. You have nothing to be embarassed about and it is unlikely anyone except you will ever know that your toe nails are clear coated - or painted with a subtle shade.

Your heart is telling you to do it, so go for it!

Shiva Rea Von, Thanks for the reply! I admit, I had never heard of this before but am very curious. Thanks for the post. I'm gonna go onto google images and try to find pics of what this might look like.Yeah, if its VERY settle and I am the only one who knows maybe I'll consider it.Flip flop season doesn;t start where I live til around the April/May so I may wait til closer to then to schedule a pedy, but thanks again for your help!

I used to always worry about what people would think if I was getting a pedi... but one day I walked in..and a 300lb linebacker was getting a pedicure. And no one really paid any attention to it.. except the fact that she had to get this drill looking thing to trim his toes lol.

I always figure what the hell.. it is just one way to make part of your body look better.

Do you cut your hair? No.. you pay someone to do it. What is the difference?

I did have someone ask if I had gotten a pedicure only because my toenails were shiny because the lady used a buffer... but remember.. an part of the service is optional.

In short.. Just go for it.

Hey thanks. So, is it the buffer that makes the nails shiny or a gloss they put on it. This intriques me. Not sure if I have ever seen that before.

I get a pedicure regularly. They know what they're doing and keep your feet healthy ( I'm diabetic ) and can advise on proper upkeep ie. creams that dissolve callouses et. al. - who cares what others think, if your feet feel great ?!

When the lady used the buffer mine seemed REALLY shiny.. and it lasted for a while
