Like the title - any other Dutchies around here? I spotted a few but was wondering if there were more.

If you wanna talk [in] Dutch, my PM mailbox is open ;)

I just like to get acquainted with the other Dutch folks on here.

Love,
Rick

Hoi. I'm not dutch but wish I was. I lived in The Netherlands for about 5 years and absolutely fell in love with the country and the nice people. My dream in life is to move there permanently but it seems almost impossible. The time there was the best of my life. Love the Jenever, Stroopwaffles, the cheese, well I'm sure you get my point.

haha, yeah I get the point indeed :p Any particular part of The Netherlands you'd like to live in? And where did you live during your stay here?

This is a thread originally for other Dutchies but anyone who's been to The Netherlands or is originally from there OR has ancestors from here can contribute also! :)

Personally I really wanna visit the USA at least once, but right now at the moment it's not in the cards yet.

Today, as we, my bf and I, were leaving the restaurant after having our Easter dinner, a man with whom I'd been chatting with while waiting for our table, came up to me and asked me "What did you say your name was?" I said, "!@%@=" (I'm not going to put my real name here) and he said, "Oh, I just wanted to see if you were Dutch." Then he turned and walked away. My bf and I were somewhat amused but definitely baffled by his odd question. He walked away so fast that he didn't hear me respond, "I am Dutch...Pennsylvania Dutch" which, of course, is not Dutch but German. Weird?

We lived in Amsterdam. We had a great little warehouse flat on Spuistraat and then we moved to a flat on Keisersgracht right in the middle of the city. Both places were amazing and after a couple of years we blended right in with the locals and learn to speak a bit of the language. I still practice my Dutch but I have become somewhat rusty because I speak other languages as well.

I particularly enjoyed a lot of the amazing musical artists from your country as well, Anouk is a favorite, Trijntje Osterhuis, Ruth Jacott, De Dijk and of course Brain Power.

I've only ever been to Amsterdam once but the city didn't click with me... I got a serious bad vibe from it except for the Jordaan area. Everything else felt somehow "alien" to me. Don't ask me why, I cannot explain it, some cities and places just give me a bad vibe.

Anouk's gonna be in the Eurovision this year btw! What I heard of the song sofar sounds beautiful. No idea whether it will be a winner but I watch for fun mostly :D

Some good choices in music you have there Maklaar13 !!
