Sociology with Criminology at York![]()
nice, how's that going for you?![]()
Not too great at the moment, finding second year really really boring and difficult! Not enjoying it even half as much as first year... but I will soldier on.
Yes same here... I don't let things like money get me down (I just avoid checking my bank account for weeks, lol) but the stress of all the work counting for something, and the increased workload etc. just leaves me feeling so busy and stressed. I feel like I never get a breather, whereas in first year, it was 90% breathers and 10% work. Now it's the opposite way around.that's exactly the same as me. nothing will be beat first year, it was so fun meeting people and going out a lot. and not having to worry about money. now I find myself constantly stressed about something, and uni has lost it's buzz :/

Being in 3rd year im currently shitting it over work for exams and dissertation which i've been neglecting. Hoping i'll be able to really work on it once exams are over but I know ill want to relax :|
I feel like that as well, but in second year
don't even want to think about dissertation. i'm going to try and go out more next term though because I feel like the reason i've been so stressed is because I haven't had much time to un-relieve the pressure.
As off topic as I could be, I wish I were a student in the UK at university. But I am, however, on the other side of the pond. I send my love to you guys <3
Why do you say that?
Why do I say what? That I wished that I could study there? I don't know, I've always had a fascination with the UK and think that it could have been interesting to study there. I mean, all things considered, Saint Cloud, Minnesota, isn't the most exciting place in the world.

It's all relative. Some UK university cities are much more exciting than others. Have you ever been to Wolverhampton or Sunderland for instance? I think you'd be homesick for Minnesota in five minutes!
Preach, sis!! Haha. You got it lucky, though.. the Cities are closer to ya
But to be on topic-ish, I would be homesick in an instant, unloadonme![]()
I agree with what the other posters said. I know a few Americans, both online and at my university, and from what I hear of the ones studying over here, the "excitement" you speak of goes away pretty quickly - as in, it's not really there at all, once the excitement of moving overseas fades.
I call it The Grass Is Always Greener Syndrome.
The UK is MASSIVELY smaller than the US, in terms of geography and population. MASSIVELY. Statistically speaking you're likely to get bored of the UK a lot quicker than you are the US.
My advice to anyone in America who thinks the UK will be "more exciting" is... re-evaluate. It'd be like moving from a big, diverse city with hundreds of thousands of people to a small village with about 90 people. Exciting for about 3 days until the novelty wears off!
Also my experience of people from the US online, is that they think the UK/British culture is... well. I don't know how to word it, but, it isn't anything like most Americans think it is. I can tell you, hand on heart, that everyday life in the UK is every bit as boring as everyday life in the US. We wake up, go to school/college/uni/work, come home, eat, watch TV and go back to bed the same as most other people do![]()
