Any other UK guys in university at the moment?

haha, we have a first, second and third year in this topic

i'm loving first year so much. i'm trying to get all the partying out of me so I can settle down after.

two weeks to go until Christmas break :D

Hey everyone, I'm at uni in Leicester. I'm in my 3rd and final year. *so much work* :-({|=

oh sweet, that's the same as me. apart from being a fresher and not having much work :P

i'm studying Communications, Media and Society (it's not a joke degree, I swear haha...)

what about you guys?

Yay for Leicester! Communications, Media and Society? I didn't even know Leicester offered that degree :p I'm studying Ancient History and Archaeology.

So if you're a fresher then does that mean you are living in halls? If so then which halls are you in?

yup, it's pretty decent actually. it's like learning politics, economics and sociology but with a media focus.

and yeah I live in Oadby, Beaumont Hall. but next year i'm moving out with 4 of my other friends into a really sweet house :D

I think one of my friends does something like that, but Archaeology on it's own? not entirely sure. but I laughed when he told me that one of his assignments was to colour a sheet with rocks drawn on them haha

Colouring a sheet with rocks on it? That sounds like geology, not archaeology. And I lived with a geologist last year so I'm allowed to say that :p

I was over in Bowder court in GMS when I was in halls. Seems like forever ago now.

You've got your house sorted early compared with most people. What area you gonna be living in next year?

And it's good to hear that you are enjoying your course.

I have a friend who does Geology and he loves talking about his course a lot. I once listened to all the crap he was talking about and it bored me, he was talking about the different minerals that were in rocks and how it shaped the rock.

I'm sure it's a good course though, but yeah...not my thing haha.

Ahhh right, I think GMS is right across the road from Beaumont.

I'm living around Clarendon Park, I forgot which area exactly but it's close to the uni and the house is awesome. annnnd no more waiting for the crappy buses since I can just walk it.

the only downside is that i'm £200 into overdraft already :(

Oh dear, I don't even have an overdraft. I don't know how I survive!

I live in Clarendon Park at the moment. In fact last year I lived right on Clarendon Park Road. It really is a nice area and it's definitely better than having to get the bus in everyday.

I blame freshers week, I think I easily spent around £200 on those two weeks. Plus I was a noob and I didn't predrink much and bought too many drinks at clubs haha.

sweet, how many people do you live with?

Well, you live and learn. Pre-drinking is the way to go (UU)

At the moment I'm living in a 3 bedroom house with only one other person because of a monumental fuck up back in September when I moved in. But that's a long story.

I feel like us two Leicester people have hijacked the thread a bit. I feel a bit guilty now !oops!

definitely, although being at Leicester Uni has made me go out a lot and become a heavyweight so I end up buying more alcohol than I should when i'm predrinking grrrr

ah right, but that must mean that the rent is high since there's only two people living in a three bedroom place :/

and haha, don't worry about it. this topic was dead beforehand anyway and people know they can join in whenever.

You just need to do what I do and schmooze other people into sharing some of their alcohol with you. That way you don't actually need to buy that much for predrinking.

No, the rent is the same as what it would be if there were 3 of us in the house (like I said, it's complicated). It just means that utility bills are slightly more expensive since there's only two of us to divide the cost between.

I'm not very good at asking other people for stuff, but i'll try that.

do you go clubbing often? I see so many second and third years at Chilli Whites, and not enough freshers there :(

Are you kidding? I very rarely go out but on the occasions that I do everywhere seems to be over run with freshers. Well, at least at the union. Makes me feel old.

I never ask people for drinks. I just know how to make them feel sorry for me so that they will offer me some booze ;)

yeah the union is pretty much full of freshers some nights. mainly fridays and saturdays. i'm just trying to get all the partying out of me since I know second and third year I won't have much time to afterwards. plus clubbing is still kinda new to me so i'm enjoying it a lot.

are you part of any clubs or societies?

Doing the clubbing thing in the first year is a good idea. I didn't at all and sometimes now just find myself wishing I could go on a decent night out but then I remember that my life is now confined to nothing but the library.

I'm part of the LGBTQ society. I've been to one event in 3 years. I'm too scared to go along to any of their events. Is that sad? !oops!

I'm part of the Ancient History and Archaeology society, the ballroom and latin american dance team and the poker society.

What about you?
