  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Anybody else hate Captcha?

They are pretty annoying and some are damn near impossible to make out, but I do like the added level of security. Some are much more annoying than others. Like others have mentioned here, I just refresh until I see one that I can easily decipher.

I work in technology and believe you me, I hear from end users that have had websites/identities/etc. compromised so badly they would have begged for Captcha protection earlier.

But really, can anyone read this? Do you need 3D glasses for this one?

Even when you're not drunk, you cann't read them.

My bank is the only place I've encountered them where they aren't a pain in the rear. Theirs are easy-to-read letters on an off-square grid background.

When they're like shown in the OP, I hate them. I've filled in entire forms only to have to start over because I didn't guess right. Once I emailed the company that I had given up and was going to their competitor, who liked humans.

I must admit... I use Captcha on my own website.

But: after a few run-ins with it, I have started changing my mind and hating the ^"£&^$ thing!

I created a test user account on the site, and tried to sign up. I then sat there for a good 10 mins trying to get the letters/code right. Needless to say that next time I edit the site: it's goin to get deleted!

I now have a new system in mind which displays a code which you need to type in, but it's a lot easier on the eye than Captcha.

I always get the most ridiculous ones. Like, I don't see how it is possible for a person to read the ones I end up with. Click that refresh button 50 times until I get something that doesn't require forensics equipment.

Oh and take this one attached for example.....pretty sure I don't have those keys on my laptop

Good for you! My website from DAY ONE never had those miserable bastards!

Just as an FYI, captchas do not provide security whatsoever. They simply filter out certain types of visitors.
