My dad sometimes like to browse through people's garage sales in his retirement. Well, he found a box of wooden shapes being sold for $5. He had no idea what the hell it was, but he was curious. Since he couldn't speak English very well, he couldn't ask them what it was. So, he bought it.

I just stopped by my parents' house earlier this evening while on my way home from work. He wanted me to investigate for him what the hell this is.

It's a box with many wooden blocks of many shapes.

Look at the pictures. Any idea?

My first thought was a shapes puzzle, but now I'm thinking it's a set of wooden building blocks.

Back many ages ago when I was in kindergarten, we had wooden building block sets that looked a lot like this so I suspect that is what it is, children's blocks.

You might want to Google the name with the location, I found a number of places in Ma.
 
Looks like a bunch of children's building blocks that I played with in kindergarten.

Yeah, we had blocks like that in school as well.
 
I used to play with a set of blocks very, very much like that when I was a kid.

The triangles are great for making roofs. And the arches are for fashioning doorways.
 
I also think that they are children's building blocks. I wonder if the case was custom made at a later date, but it could have been made with the blocks.

I'm wondering that too. I have a photo of my younger brothers admiring their tower with almost identical blocks. It's on the web--if anyone is interested I could give you where, won't post it here as they are underage in the photo. PM me.
