Anybody See "There Will Be Blood"?

I saw There Will Be Blood about a week ago. It's a good movie, Daniel Day Lewis is incredible, even Paul Dano did well. It's production values are outstanding as well. The film is 2 1/2 hours long though, a lot of people have not enjoyed the ending and I've heard other people talk about how they didn't like the story. My partner liked Daniel Day Lewis' performance but not so much the film itself. I personally think it's worth watching, but if you're looking for something a bit shorter, perhaps easier to enjoy, there are some other great flix out right now in addtion to There Will Be Blood, such as Atonement, Juno, Sweeney Todd, and of course, No Country For Old Men

Writer/director PT Anderson (Magnolia, Boogie Nights, Punch Drunk Love) made it a "must-see" for me. I think he is one of the most talented film makers working today. I was not disappointed with "Blood." It's a great movie. Daniel Day Lewis gives an amazing performance that verges on hammy, but never crosses the line.

The story is not compelling, but the characters, performances, scenery and cinematography certainly are. I found the ending satisfying and amusing, but I can understand why other people did not like it. I didn't find the film too long, but can understand that criticism as well.

It's not doing all that well at the box office, despite tremendous reviews and recent Oscar nominations. Anderson is an auteur and his film is a work of art. It definitely is not a mainstream, dumbed-down, studio edited hollywood movie.

So hell yeah go see it!

I've seen it twice. For me, it's PT Anderson's best film (and I know 99% of people are going to disagree with that). I was absolutely blown away by the performances and the thematics. Check it out!
