I didnt want to put this in the tech forum because I am interested in what people think of it who are not computer geniuses.

I found that google chrome doesn't make my system run as slow as firefox can and I was wondering if anyone did the download and likes the speed on it?

I haven't noticed that it runs any faster than previously. Nor has the start-up time decreased.

I'm gonna stick with Chrome. I only use Firefox cos it was the browser I used before Chrome and my hundreds of bookmarks are very well organised from my Firefox days.

Working fine here too. I'm just perplexed by the menu bar now being above the navigation bar, along with the refresh button moving over to the right.

I'm sure there's a fix for that, but I'm really not that bothered. :D

I'm running on an iMac and haven't noticed any difference -- except I couldn't find the refresh button -- thanks to Oogiemess for clearing that up for me.

I'm not all that impressed by Firefox 4. It seems to be a tad faster but nothing to write home about.

And I agree, why did they have to move the refresh button to the far right? That serves no purpose except to frustrate users.

Also, they hid the "stop loading" button. It's also to the right, but the only clue is that it changes colors during loading so you can click it to stop the load.

The tool and menu bars can be rearranged as they were previously. Why they changed that is a mystery as well.

Upgrades to improve performance and/or add features are appreciated. Scrambling traditional layouts for no other sake than to piss users off is not good.

Also, some add ons were not included in the upgrade. My tool bar weather disappeared, for one.

Just posted in the other thread. I appear to have lost the option to check for updates.

Damn it sucks having a Mac that is a PowerPC. Looks like they went in the direction of Google Chrome and cut off PowerPC users. :(

It's annoying that they moved the button to the right, but putting stop/reload together makes sense, as you either do the one or the other.

They just stole the idea from Chrome. If you're on a netbook or tablet PC with a lower resolution, it helps saving a few pixels to see more of the website.

Blame your add-on coder. He is required to keep his add-on up to date. Why not use one of the many startpages anyway that allow you to put widgets here and there?

Opera is the best! It includes nifty mouse gestures that increase browsing speed.

Firefox is slow, virus infested, and has too many ad companies trying to give you add-ons.

I've been trying it for 24 hours now... Works pretty fine for me. I haven't noticed any major change as far as speed is concerned, though - and also enabled the menu bar to keep on showing, despite their trying to make Firefox look like something... Appleish, I guess?

By the way: I tried using Chrome three times, and uninstalled it all of them. Just couldn't get used to it. I think I'm more of a Firefox guy.

I tried it and it stopped working - could not click on anything, nor type anywhere. It just suddenly stopped working after a few hours. Aside from that I really, really did not like the new UI setup. Right now I am using an older version - 3.6 I think. So aside from not working and bad UI it also didn't seem to run any faster or start up any more quickly. What sucks is I will eventually have to upgrade to 4.

I have never really tried it out - but as people in this thread have mentioned - google's Chrome browser is looking better by the minute.

By the way, a thing I hadn't noticed before, just realized it: they extinguished (at least, mine is not working, or I didn't discover how to activate it) that funcionability of saving all the open pages when you close more than one tab at a time!
:(

4 is great. It's significantly faster than 3.6 and you can spot the difference on sights like google maps. As for the UI, it's almost completely customizable. In less than 5min I had the UI back to a 3.6 look. My advice is to go for it.

I noticed this too. Don't know whether there's an option to re-enable it, but you can reopen all your previous tabs/windows Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session OR History > Restore Previous Session (if you have the regular menu bar enabled).

Also, anyone wanting to re-enable the menu bar can do so by right clicking up top (i.e. beside the address bar). You can also click on "Customize..." in the menu that pops up and move around the stop/refresh/etc... buttons to your liking, as well as add/remove ones you want or do not want.

I really quite like Firefox - I prefer it to Chrome - I like the lay out, and I reckon it's very smooth. Firefox 4 kept all my bookmarks and the layout is solid.

i have had firefox 4 since it was beta. at first i had a few issues with it, but all of the issues have been worked out and its run fine ever since.
