American/Canadian/Australian/Pop, etc. I'm going to be auditioning again with my friend. The last time I went, I didn't even get past the first round, haha, but I think I've improved, so might as well try.

Has anyone else auditioned or are planning on auditioning?

i love auditions and interviews... it's fun.
Never been to the one you are going to~

Good luck~

I auditioned in the arizona idol competition and didnt make it past the first round, but im gonna try out again this year and I WILL make it this time. If you know the song "you raise me up"..well, thats what im gonna sing. peace out. ..|

I had a friend make it to Hollywood one season (I think it was the last one, I'm not sure. Don't watch it.), but she got sick there and lost her voice.

She was Sarah Krueger from the Minneapolis try outs, if anyone remembers...

I have thought about auditioning for Canadian Idol, but In the past, I've seen the judges in the semifinals and top 12, and I know I would be arguing with them every week about their hypocrisy and dishonourable treatment of the contestants (JUST BE YOURSELF ... if yourself is marketable... otherwise be who we want you to be).

I'd like to go in and see how well I do, but the thought of winning sounds horrible. Maybe I'll apply and if I was good enough to get far, I'd just drop out.

Yeah, that's a little bit true actually. The thing about Canadian Idol, compared to, say, American Idol, is that we don't have a lot of "great" singers (ie. powerhouse singers), but more creative and artistic ones, and that's what they look for in people.

Still, I think it's worse in American Idol, where Simon makes fun of people for looking different.

i find canadian idol more about a gimmick that isn't forgettable rather than creativity or singing.

and i get the feeling the judges all meet up before the season and decide to all encourage the same thing. They all seem to be saying the same comments and they always point to SALES. I'm quite sure they get a cut in the profits.

All idol shows are pissing me off nowadays. They're taking away the prize for the winner, and the experience for the contestants. The winner of the competition is supposed to "win" by getting a contract. Instead, they arrange who will get the contract based on what will get them the most money. What's the point then? Why not just choose the winner themselves, and keep the audience out of it? It's not a singing competition with a prize anymore, it's a job interview.

I auditioned for American Idol. Made it past the first round. Not shocked I didn't make it past the second. My song choice was pretty crappy I have to admit.
