I just use my cell phone for important stuff. I'm not into all that crap that that cell phone has.

I just hate hanging out with people and they ignore me and pay more attention to there cellphone

I am fine with my own phone as the only people who call / text me are the ones I want to talk to. The work phone really pisses me off as it can make it almost impossible to get any work done with people ringing up asking for help rather than trying to work it out for themselves. It is just too easy for them to be lazy.

I don't know why I own a phone because I hardly ever use it. It's mainly for texting though I do admit. It's so much better to text someone that you're not able to meet up or cancel an appointment than telling them by speech.

I hate it when people post in forums as if they were text messaging.

I'm over it. I stopped text messaging as a New Years resolution. It got completely out of hand. I stopped replying so everyone stopped sending messages. Much better! :D Now I use the cell phone the way I want to use it.

Yes, it is annoying when you're with others and they are more worried about their cell phone and who's calling (or texting) than being with you or the group you are with. It's rude. Whatever happened to just being with someone without constant phone interruptions that are mostly unimportant calls? Technology strikes again.

Even in the bars, it's annoying. Yesterday I visited one of the local haunts for Happy Hour and virtually everyone sitting at the bar had a cell phone parked in front of them, like it came with the cocktail! Then they start ringing and 20 conversations get cut short because somebody HAS to answer the phone!

The WORST is when someones phone rings and they expect everyone else to stop talking and be quiet so they can talk on the phone! :grrr:

So much for my cell phone rant.

Texting can get just plain goofy. I have friends who send em all the time and have away to much time on their hands

I'll admit to using that way of communicating, but i'd rather speak to the person.

I used to hate it, but I have accepted that my friends prefer to use it, so I have started to use it as well...

I just use my cell when I am away from home, mainly for emergencies or go check on my home phone answering machine, only about 5 close friends of mine have my cell number to use if they want me while I am away from home. I cant be bothered with all of those other uses for a cell, its a communication device damn it !

Anyone else sick of text messages?

I must admit that I seldom (can't say never) use text messaging............I'll also admit that I find it very distracting when some friends use text messaging while we are dining out............same goes for taking cell calls that can wait............and then there are folks who talk on their cells so everyone around can here their conversations............please............oh I'm done............

I only use text messages for quick responses or emergencies only when I don't have the time to talk. Otherwise I get sick and tired of posting two text pages on to someone's phone because they don't want to carry a conversation while talking. ArcticPhantam I exactly know what you are feeling.

It was fun for awhile, but now people send me more and more. Now, I don't feel much in the mood anymore. This especially goes for the people who forward crap that you are supposed to forward to others. I usually get these twice from a guy and his wife. :grrr:

Texting can be very useful.

For me it is. I don't get texted much but it's useful to text my dad sometimes or a friend.

I don't overdo it.

lol omg ur so rite ok bye

My main use of texting (how quickly that became a verb!) is sending computer code, street addresses, and other stuff that is easier to write than speak.

The biggest thing I hate is I've started getting contest, lottery, MLB betting, and other crap via text. I turned off text from the phone company except "your bill is ready online" notification.

I can't stand people who interrupt a social occasion to answer a call. I just glance to see who it is, and that's it. I have wished they'd make a macro option so I could have standard text replies I could send back with like two keystrokes, though -- things like, "At the bar; call U later", or "Wrkng; cnt tlk now", or even "Skinnydipping; come join".

Last week I met a gal who can text while she talks -- she's got one of those phones with a keyboard, and she texts so much she can type with two fingers while carrying on a conversation!

I do get a lot of texts from one guy (quite cute!) who has a speech problem and is hard to understand on the phone. That gets to be a pain sometimes, but he's the first gay buddy I got after coming out, which makes it kinda special, too.

Oh -- another reason I use texting is when I have something to tell someone and don't want to forget to do so, but I'm out of range. I have an option where I can tell the phone to automatically send the moment I'm back in range -- it's really useful.
