Anyone going or been to Gay Days at Disney?

I'd like to go when I have some money, but I don't know if I would want to go alone.

I'm not really sure there would be much for me there anyways.

Never been, nor plan on going unless I have a sizable group of friends that can afford to go with me.

Went there a few weeks ago when it was less crowded.

Isn't this where Mickey and Donald kiss openly in public??
I love when Mickey wears the leather chaps!
When are Chip and Dale going to come out as a couple?

I live near Orlando and stay away from the parks when they are at near of full capacity. One of the most visually iconic parts of the event is the first Saturday in June visit by red-shirted people to the Magic Kingdom. This event has never officially been endorsed by Disney - and some years there were "warning" signs about it, however, one thing Disney will never turn down is money - so the park hours and entertainment levels are kicked up "unofficially" for the visitors.

Now in it's 20th year, the term Gay Days (which I think is registered trade name to a huge marketing / travel company) refers to about 5 days of multiple parties, club events, expos, concerts, pool parties etc. all around Orlando hotels, parks and clubs.

The event has come a long way over time. As the story goes it was originally conceived on a computer message board (hmm, maybe like this one) with the idea that members would just all go to Disney World on the first Saturday in June and wear a red shirt. From there it's grown into the international event with over 100,000 people attending.

I usually go to some of the side events, just not to the parks.

Gay Days at Disney. . . is that when they dress the Pirates of the Caribbean in drag?

Oh wait, they're dressed in drag every day.#-o

They had that pin on the cruise ship, too. :)

I went to Gay Days in October 2009 in Anaheim - we had a JUB meet there. It went pretty well, and we had a good time. The only blip on the radar was that Miley Cyrus had her "Sweet Sixteen" birthday party on Sunday at the park, and they closed the park at 6pm. Even stranger, if you watched the hotels during the weekend, you could see it gradually change from gay men (and some women) in red shirts, to really rich parents and their tween kids who convinced their parents that they just HAD to be at Disneyland for Miley's sweet 16.

Been going to Gay Days at Disneyland since 2005 it's been ok, I decided to not go any more cause last year was the last time, it was SUPER crowded in October 2010, 3 hour wait for Space Mountain was really insane.

We went with another JUB member and we enjoyed ourselves but it's better to go on a weekday and NOT a weekend. You're just looking for a reason to see how ugly gays and straight people can get in crowded small spaces.

If we were to go we are planning to go on a weekday when it's not crowded.
