Anyone going to any of the big Summer Music Festivals this year? I haven't been to one in a few years, last one I went to was Life Is Good Festival here in Massachusetts, before that last one I did was Bamboozle down in Jersey.

This year 8 of us are heading down to Deleware for Firefly Festival!! Super pumped for it! Great lineup and just going to be a great weekend of camping, friends and music!

Which one(s) are you going to?

If the lineup is good, i'll be attempting to go to the Mayhem Festival and Summer Slaughter - the first I'll go back to Atlanta to see, and the second, I hope to rent or have a car, and then drive to a close spot in Florida.

I am also NEARLY committed to going to the Maryland Death Fest... since my ex moved from the states though, I don't have a free place to stay - but since they moved it back from March to May, it might still be worth it.

Music Festivals

I was wondering if there were any festival goers on here. Figured itd be nice to chat about it.
I myself have been to Camp Bisco the last two years and am going to Electric Forest in Michigan this year. Anyone else going to fesivals this year or have been to any before? Post videos, pictures, etc. :]

I tried embedding some videos but I failed so here are the links.

Hope this thread kicks off and I hope to see some of you out there this summer :]

Re: Music Festivals

I've made it a habit to TRY and go to The Mayhem Festival in Atlanta every year - have gone every year since its' inception except for one, and I'll be returning to that mass hysteria this year... it's not the BEST metal fest in the states, but the days of Ozzfest are long gone and I didn't make it to Maryland Death Fest, which is my new goal.

We cause mayhem and we listen to metal... yupp, best way to describe it.

Re: Music Festivals

Haven't been to a festival in years, couple of friends of mine went to MDF this past weekend and had a blast. Few bands I would have liked to see, especially Speedwolf.

Re: Music Festivals

Haven't been to one in two years, but I was an avid goer before :) I'll try to remember to post a few pics here soon

Re: Music Festivals

Yeah, I used to go to quite a few a while back but since I stopped doing drugs, they lost their pizzazz. The latest one I went to, I got dragged down to Delaware for and I didn't realize at the time that my friend was an extremely sloppy drunk, especially with hard liquor.

I'll still go to concerts though, however, this season is kind of shitty in Boston.

As promised, a bunch of pictures :) All from a crappy cellphone camera, 'cause I'd never bring any good camera to a festival :o

Also a way to see more. I hope she didn't break her ankles ;)

They sat on one of the main walking routes and were judging people, loudly.

The festival was still new and not that well known. So it wasn't sold out, but they had enough security etc. hired for the sold out festival. So quite often, they didn't have much to do. Which led to some very laid back and chill security guys :) This guy was particularly sweet and I had a few chats with him every now and then. At the last day I took this pic :)

So this "Testicle ball" was a silly game that some guys invented. Basically a bunch of guys in two teams would sit across each other on the ground, with legs wide open and facing the other team. One of each team would throw this "bomb" over to the other and try to hit the other team. You'd get one point for hitting someone, 5 points for hitting someone in the balls. But if somebody was hit in the balls, he got removed from the game for this round. For every five points accumulated by hitting someone, your team could choose someone to be removed. If somebody ducked the bomb or avoided it any other way (blocking with hands, closing legs) he got removed immediately. First team with no players present loses.

Sounds silly? Yep. But don't underestimate the fun that drunk people can have with that :D This game was going on almost all weekend. The ball/bomb had an annoying bomb-dropping sound that was audible everywhere ;)

And as I said, security people were really laid back. And so was the police. Those two officers were present almost all weekend - and the office couldn't have send anybody better. They were very friendly and approachable, even when they had to remove a tent because somebody was blocking an emergency exit or similar. I believe everybody liked them, especially after they decided to play a round of testicle ball, too.

Yes, you got to try to throw a ball at a police officer, trying to hit him in the nuts ...

Of course they also tried to crush your testicles, but that's only just I guess ;)

By the way, after the first day the ladies demanded their right and every other game there was a ladies-only round of "tits balls" played ;)

Desperate attempt at trying to keep the beer at least somewhat cool

four person pressured beer shooter that some guy built. Four people take the hose into their mouths, the beer is pressurized with one bar, somebody opens the valve .. and 1 litre of beer is gone in less than a second.
Fun fact: all straight guys failed at the first try, with beer coming out of their nose and beer foam out of their mouth, going everywhere. I'd love for this to become an official gaydar ;)

Two person beer stash. We were too lazy to schlepp it all from the car to our tent, so we had to go to the car in the middle of the night to get a new supply.

Guys built a lego bong.

It was daaaaamn hot that weekend. Saturday around midday, some guys came to our tent and asked for "donations" of some liquid soap/shampoo. Turns out they were building a slip'n'slide around the corner, so naturally we not only donated liquid soap but also came along.

One morning, this girl was sleeping next to our tent, just like that. We already showered and had breakfast when she finally woke up, very hung over. She was quite happy about the bacon that we offered her :D Her worried friends were already looking for her at that time and found her a bit later at our place. Later she returned with a few thank you beers :)

Aerial picture of the festival grounds. One of the first years - today all that is green is covered ;) This year we had THE perfect spot, our tent is circled red.

This guy had some kind of bet going about how many people would drink a beer with him if he went from tent to tent without pants. Don't know how it ended, but we drank with him ..|

got tix to the 'Life in Color' paint EDM fest here in Washington DC in September - should be fun (and messy)

well 'Life in Color' was fun - but wet (and messy) - had gotten there by 4pm, but by 9pm after constant rain, paint and 65 degree weather - I had enough, came home and watched the last hour (Afrojack) via my computer.
