Anyone into indie music?

I've pretty much taken "indie" these days to mean "most people won't know who they are". I really like Jose Gonzalez, there isn't much outre about him, but he seems to fall into the indie category anyway...

I listen more to what is called IndieRock. There's a band moving inbetween those genres called MGMT, i can hardly recommend their album Oracular Spectacular.

you can hardly recommend it. i highly recommend them. it was on my number one spot for album of the year last year, and electric feel was my choice for single of the year. i didn't realize they were indie. for some reason, i thought they were on a major label. but, they are huge now. because not only were they on the top of my list, they were on the top of everyone's album of the year list. i am a bit tired of this album because i was totally in love with it and wore it out last year. but, hopefully, they will be bringing some new grooves to town soon.

I try not to be one of those people that get bothered by popularity. It's really annoying though when MTV or some other media outlet hijacks a band or artist, and for like a month straight everyone is singing one song and have no idea about the meaning of the song. Just like with MIA and Pineapple Express. Idk if MIA can be classified as Indie at all though. Her music is more synth pop/rap. But my definition of indie is more or less music that doesn't exactly fit into any genre. So I guess alot of music could be put into that category.
