to the OP: I don't know. I think a lot of people are right, and it's just to get a hot picture of yourself. I know a lot of actors who have gotten shots like the one you posted included in their headshots shoot just because they felt like doing it while they were under the lense anyway.
I was the subject, never nude or even necessarily sexy, for a friend of mine for a couple of his photography assignments in college. The pictures are great and they're not airbrushed or photoshopped. I don't have makeup on, nor am I clean shaven.
