Anyone play tennis?

Dig reading your league play experinces. Keep it up !!
Yepper I play. I come from a athletic type of family. Sister was a ranked junior in Ohio, my two brothers played lacrosse and I played tennis and lacrosse through high school. In college I played tennis 3 out of the 4 and half years it took me to graduate.
After college I taught science at a prep school in south florida. I was the assistant coach of the guy's tennis team. One day we were getting ready to play Boca Prep, a private school from Boca Raton. I was asked by this tall pretty good looking kid to hit with him to warm him up for a few minutes. Even though he was from the other team i said sure thing.
Over the next ten minutes that he got to warm up with me I realized this kid was pounding the ball every freaking time 3 or 4 inches from the base line right at my feet. I never had to move. He never missed and he never ever hit the ball long or into the net.
A few minutes after the other coach and myself had called the players from both teams to meet up and get ready to play I heard the name of the kid I was warming up. His name was Andy Roddick. Andy went on to win states that year and 4 years later was playing professional tennis on the ATP Tour.
Still play and coach tennis. It's a great world wide sport. I think its the second most popular sport in the world behind soccer- football

^great story wahoo

not a big fan of his game right now - all power - little finesse - but he's soooooooo hot - especially when he sweats - and love that "shirt lift" move he has

haha

tennis is nowheres in the us - golf killed it - everyone i work with plays golf now - crazy - takes too long - and not athletic

still love my tennis

be good

i play tennis! i've been playing since i was 10-year-old, & i'm 18 going on 19 now! i live & breathe it, almost. i love everything abt it, besides serving... pointless shot!

Just stumbled into this thread

and just stumbled back into the game after a long time away

was just a pro fan for the longest time & just hit for fun with my brothers in the 90's

got a little more serious in 2001 & took some lessons/joined a league

1st year I was 1 for 15 then the next year 7 for 15 then the next year I was #1 seed the whole season & runner up @ the year end playoffs

great fun but slacked off again til recently for lack of practice partners on a regular basis

for the last few months I started hitting with a young guy I work with (1/2 my age) who says he played in high school

1st time we played a match it was love & love & he seemed deflated but I told him not to worry he is just rusty & law of averages would have him beating me in no time ( i'm getting older & he gets practice) if he wanted to continue because I could see he had some skills

here's his progress:

1st match = 0/0
2nd match = 0/1
3rd match = 1/1
4th match = 1/2

and then this weekend we played a match that was 2 & 2 but he was in a lot of the games & we had many many dueces

I'm guessing by spring or maybe sooner this kid will take a set off me (he showed up saturday with a new Prince racket) I'll keep ya posted...Don
