It's an incredibly entertaining piece of work, rather "light" in comparisson to a great many of King's latter day works (there's a sub text of gallows humour throughout the whole thing). Not his best work, but then, one gets the impression that it was never intended to be; it is, first and foremost, a piece of entertainment rather than a work of gravity. There are also some VERY nice reference to The Dark Tower, if you happen to have read that series.

I would agree with this. It is light reading and enjoyable.

After reading it you can fantasize about it really happening as a means of getting your revenge on all those people who answer their phone as soon as it rings, even if you are in the middle of a conversation with them.

I rather enjoyed the immense amount of carnage prevalent throughout.

And I thought it was fairly well constructed and well worth a read. It's not quite as intricate as his masterpiece Needful Things, mind, but you can't go wrong with it.

Well I bought this a good while ago and being a Stephen King fan, I thought it wasn't one of his best books.

I haven't even finished reading it, which is strange because usually I wouldn't put it down.

I did like The Dark Tower references (love those books)

The characters are likeable and the story is alright.

I'd give it 6.5-7/10

Hehe, know of any FANTASTIC books that relate to [...] post apocalyptic? :( I'm having way too much trouble finding one..

Pesthouse, Jim Crace
Oryx and Crake, Margaret Atwood (a companion novel, The Year of the Flood, is due out in September)
The Handmaid's Tale, Margaret Atwood
The World Made by Hand, James Howard Kunstler
The Road, Cormac McCarthy
I Am Legend, Richard Matheson
The Children of Men, P D James
The Other Side of the Island, Allegra Goodman (Young Adult)

Though, if you like Stephen King, you may not like these...

World War Z.

Best book on zombies.

^No, you're right.

Zombies is as close to a good description as you'll get. And there were a couple of main characters - 2 guys, 1 of whom was pegged as gay and the other searching for his little boy; as well as a teen girl and a pre-teen boy.

^That Harvard guy was beautifully created, I thought. And yeah, I was on the edge of my seat as well for the most part.
