Apology for my RAP topic

no not all rap is crap.. there has been some rap with a positive message. Its today's rap that is really degrading. YES IT IS.

Why does alot of today's rap portray black males with the Doorags and they get stoned and live in the projects.. THAT particular stereotype comes from SOMEWHERE...

I am not racist.. one of my BEST friends is black and shes been there for me more then alot of other people! I love her and she means the world to me

Yes- the stereotype DOES come from somewhere.
It comes from ignorant, uneducated idiots.

(I am not, by any means, referring to you personally, DarkEmo).

Everyone just has different tastes, just like different opinions. One doesn't triumph over the other; on the contrary, each genre of music we don't like actually enhances the music we DO like, by making us appreciate it more.

There are some people that are going to hate rap, some that hate disco, some that hate (gasp!) trance... the point is- if you don't like it, great! But don't try to convince others of the same.

im not putting down a genre.. a certain era of a genre.. i personally dont like Elvis and get a headache hearing his music.. but i RESPECT him because his music is real and hes talented.. just not my taste.. its one thing to just not like an artist or genre... its one thing to point out which genre of a certain time seems to be promoting negative messages

I understand what you're saying.

Admittedly, I am not well versed in the genre of Rap. Has it changed since its inception? I assume, like any genre of music, it evolves. Even though I am uneducated when it comes to that genre, I still don't hold any preconceived notions about it, or the people it portrays.

I agree so much.. but as black guy I don't droo rags and pants saggy all the time ;)
As rap these that is crap I do agree some rap is rap just some trance music is crap and some country music is crap and so on and so on ... Oh DarkEmo I understand what u were trying to say .. Peace ;)

I DO NOT think rap is crap. People have different taste of music.

And i know some rap fans are much more well behave than some hologans out there.

^ i understand what u mean.

I don't like country music but i only like a few songs like
"stand by your man" LOL and a few other songs.

The same with rap.

Well I'll agree with you on some things. I'm Latino, I've listened to rap and this new Regaeton, and some of it is good, but for the most part I feel like these artists keep portraying the black and latin community like thugs and gangsters. And then I get sick and tired of seeing latino youths copying the way these "artists" act and talk (butchering the English language... and spanish language in the process).
Don't get me wrong, once in a while a good song will pop up with a good message, but for a lot of times it's mostly disappointing.

umm ... DarkEmoBoi you are 19 and you sounds like a parent preaching to Adults?

Uuuuhhhhhhh Hhhuuuuuuuuhhhhhh

That has WHAT to do with the topic at hand???

[

DarkEmoBoi, it would most likely be beneficial to you and the rest of the JUB community if you left this forum and sparred us all our daily dose of stupidity.[/QUOTE]

why bother? there will always be another to take his place. best thing to do is either ignore his post, or just shake your head and move on. obviously arguing with him isn't going to change his stance so what's the point? if u let posters like him get to you all you're really doing is giving them more attention than they deserve.

It's interesting how you attempt to sound informed, yet no where did you mention the new movement in Hip Hop that once again strives for a positive message. Talib Kweli and Kanye West are just two within the larger movement. In actuality, positive Hip Hop is what is hot in the underground Hip Hop scene. And this isn't just amongst blacks, its actually happening amongst Latino groups too, and of all groups: Mexican youth. Instead of the thug life, these youths of colour are rapping about important issues such as Gentrification, Immigration Reform, Glass Ceiling Mobility, etc. Gangsta Rap is only what is commercially available because of its previous popularity. However, as its popularity diminishes, we will continue to see the rise of positive Hip Hop. Yes, there will always be Gangsta Rap, because there will always be a consumer who wants to escape into is bling-bling promises. But, judging by 50 Cent's record sales, a large sector of the Hip Hop consumers are getting tired of the violence.

I did NOT see any racism in this kid.
He is just too young and have a heated arguement, that's all.

I agree with what you're saying (and I don't really think you're racist).
But if homosexuals can be homophobic, guys who date Black men can be racist. Just FYI. I'm not saying you are racist or anything.

I agree 100%, Im Puerto Rican, and there is no doubt in my mind that Rap causes almost all my cousins to think they're all hard and thuggish, it kinda pisses me off, cuz they sound retarded as hell.......but whatever, hopefully the current form of rap dies out in a few years, which i think it will

DarkEmoBoi, If people actually think your being racist, they're all fucked in the head, i mean your bringing up all these stereotypes and such, but ur not being racist, stop defending yourself!!!

omg 19 year old kids can be quite racist - and omg everything else

omg the depths to which I disagree with this thread redeux is omg more than I can say

omg those that seek attention can omg get it ;)

OK. Wow.

First off - discussing stereotypes, OK. Personal insults and baiting - not OK, and I'm looking your way DarkEmoBoi. If someone is disagreeing with you, there is no need to start calling them derogatory names.

And, in this thread it works both ways - if you disagree with DarkEmoBoi, then disagree without resulting to name calling and insults.

I've cleaned up some of the posts, and will be watching

OK, I must have missed those last three posts.

bpaul778 and DarkEmoBoi, please refrain from the damn name calling.

Strike two on this thread.

I think what works best when it comes to genres of music that one hates is to avoid them. I personally can't stand rap music, and stick to the idea that it's garbage, so I avoid it at all costs. No MTV, VH1, or any of the radio stations that play it. That pretty much solves my problem.

cuz the rap listeners can usually afford to buy one or just not at all..

Just making a note, you may want to elaborate on that because that comment could be interpreted two (or more) ways, and the one that first came to mind is that fans of rap can barely come up with the cash for a CD. I highly doubt that's what you intended, but just letting you know in case others also read it the same way.

perhaps you could just be role models to the children in your lives and not let rappers and TV stars raise them?
