A number of Apple customers groaned this week about their iPad’s erratic behavior when connecting to Wi-Fi, and Apple has issued a bulletin with a recommended solution.

Apple’s support forum contains several reports from users complaining about their iPad’s behavior with Wi-Fi networks, Macworld first noted. Some complain their iPad’s Wi-Fi signal is very weak, while others say they’re unable to join their network after waking iPads up from standby.

In a support bulletin, Apple on Monday acknowledged an issue specific to dual-band Wi-Fi routers — those that are compatible with both 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz spectrum bands.

“Under certain conditions, iPad may not automatically rejoin a known Wi-Fi network after restart or waking from sleep. This can occur with some third-party Wi-Fi routers that are dual-band capable when: Using the same network name for each network, [or] Using different security settings for each network,” Apple wrote.

Citing unresolved wireless issues with the device, Israel has banned Apple’s iPad from the nation—including those brought in by tourists. Israel has stated the iPad’s powerful WiFi signals might interfere with other devices. The ban is only temporary, but until then, customs officials will be confiscating any and all shiny new gadgets.

You're putting an awful lot of energy into hating something that most of us either already bought or don't care about.

Just in case you didn't know.

Oh God my iphone did this and drove me CRAZY

Luckily I still had my phone network.

Oh and that is kind of scary that the Wi-Fi will mess shit up in Israel, with all the signals in America I be damned if something goes down...

This has Skynet written all over it.

I never said I hated Apple or gave my opinions on the stories, I just posted them.

The Fanboys are angry.:twisted::soapbox:

Actually, us "fan boys" are just irritated that you keep trying to pick fights about a product that most of us are quite happy with by picking a few stories about people who are having minor problems that will be fixed in the next update.

Seriously, this is your hobby?

I'm glad to hear that Apple is addressing the issue...

I suspect that one day VERY SOON -- NO ONE will have a desktop anymore...

And we'll all be walking around with our I PADS (or similar)...

:):):)

You have to leave your iPad with customs and pay a storage fee.

Even though it is approved by the European Union's regulations for wireless devices which Israel also follows and the official distributor, iDigital, is run by the son of current Israeli President Shimon Peres.

I'm not an Apple hater, although I've never really used anything other than Windows...

But all I will say, which is perhaps me playing Devil's Advocate here, is the reason some people take such pleasure in watching an Apple have troubles after being released, because Apple and their supporters love to hammer the other guys over every little problem that they have.

And that is my non-biased, non-Apple hating, opinion; which I've found to be true though being friends with an Apple person, who does love to mock the other guys for their problems.

There are always teething issues with new products, a few patches and updates later and all should be dandy.
