On March 17, Apple presented the blueprint for iPhone OS 3.0, the next version of the world’s most advanced mobile platform. In addition to previewing its innovative features, Apple gave members of the iPhone Developer Program immediate access to the iPhone OS 3.0 software beta and an updated Software Development Kit (SDK) with over 1,000 completely new APIs.

Advance preview of 100 new features.
For iPhone owners, it just keeps getting better. When iPhone OS 3.0 arrives this summer, it will introduce over 100 new features, including the ability to:

Search your iPhone
Cut, copy, and paste
Send photos, contacts, audio files, and location via MMS*
Read and compose email and text messages in landscape

Finally copy and paste, mms, and a landscape keyboard!!! I mean it only took 2 years, oh well at least it's here.

Yes sadly there will not be flash support on this upcoming software release #-o, but there's speculation of it might(meaning not likely) be coming some time soon.

I mean hey Apple can't get us all the features we want or else what would incline us to purchase the new releases, Apple's always holding out regardless if they have the capacity to add something to their products. Honestly though it is a bit disappointing that they still don't have flash or a number of other features (voice commands, video recording (wtf no video?), etc) that have become almost standardized in modern cell phones but whatever I'll shut up and be content with mms and copy and paste for a couple months.

my thought is... I so freaking need to get an iPhone. lol.

yeah it's about time. no flash still sucks but copy/paste will be very nice to have.

They've done a great job of implementing the new features in very clever ways - better than in most other phones. It was ALMOST worth the wait...

Stereo bluetooth and push-data within applications are also welcome additions.

No video record, no Flash in web browser= joke!

I'm so glad that I'll be stepping back into the world of MMS soon! I mean, being able to email pics back and forth is ok, but I miss being able to text them.

There's also a rumor that a new iPhone is coming out.

The update is out for developers. Although I think teethering doesn't work yet.

The update has tons of school stuff though.

VOICE CHAT, Copy Paste, MSS, iPod Library Access, In-Store purchases and etc..

I hope the networks allow tethering. But I doubt they will even though they allow unlimited internet in their phone deals. I know the feature is in the 3.0 update.

I don't fancy jailbreaking my phone in order to allow tethering.

The software update is FREE to iPhone users.

How many phone companies (Nokia, Ericsson, Siemens, LG etc) give software updates to it's current phone software? Both for bug fixes and new features. How many times have you upgraded to the latest phone because new features aren't available on your current model?
