I quote:

A team of neuroscientists scanned the brain of an Apple fan and it showed that the brand was stimulating the same parts of the brain as religious imagery does in people of faith.

I rather suspect that the sampling, of one Apple fanatic is insufficient to draw such a conclusion.

It's very superficial to hate a brand because of its owner, marketing techniques or its fanboys. Whatever happened to judging a brand by its product? I'm guessing that the anti-fanboys don't want to discuss products because then they will be forced to admit that Apple products have quality. Funny to see all these comments about "obnoxious fanboys" because I come across more obnoxious anti-fanboys. The so-called "fanboys" have every right to like and support a brand, nothing wrong with that and Apple is not the only brand with fanboys. Anti-fanboys need to get a life and stop being so arrogant with their hatred for Apple. It's quite stupid and so yesterday to attack Apple simply because of Steve Jobs.

I don't care, just don't proclaim to me without provocation how perfect your iPad is or how elitist you are just because Helvetica is installed on your Mac laptop and use it for EVERY OCCASION!!!

^ Ehh whatever floats your boat. It looks good too but NOT worth the price to buy IMO. And I'm not a fan of those type of overly straight ( :D ) fonts, we call them Grotesk Typefaces.

It annoys me though how much my friends proclaim it as if it's the second coming.

^I agree. I'll get scalped for this by any graphics designer, but there are many fonts which are extremely similar, but free, so I don't really see the point or the hype.
Nah, you wont get scalped, I have more important things (like the programming aspects) to worry about then a font, it's usually at the last things on my to do list.

I have a few actually, but alas I'm more of a serif fan.

The main thing I would judge by is the editing programs I've used at work.

I'm not fond of Final Cut...it makes you spend too much time setting up your project, plus all the fonts look similar.

Adobe opens with most thing you'll need all ready "turned on" and has more font and effects.

I haven't used Sony's editing program, but my old boss swore by it.

On a side note, I like "appleheads" instead of "fanboys".

I'm never a fan of Apple or any other brand for that matter.

My computer is still windows based.

If I had the cash, I would get a Mac laptop. However, I don't. Therefore, I'm locked into the PC platform. :-({|=

You must remember this: "What type of fruit is the serpent handing Eve?

I have to admit, as a Blackberry user I am going to join the dark side after my contract runs out. The only thing that I have been put off by is the keyboard on the iPod, it's so fiddly, I do like the fact that my blackbery has a physical keyboard.

I had an iPod touch which has the same keyboard and it would cause me so much grief, but maybe it just takes getting used to.

^Before you call someone out on a post they make, it might be helpful to read it in its entirety:

Or are you one of those "obnoxious fanboys" who takes any criticism of something they like as a personal attack? ;)

I wouldn't call myself a fanboy because I only have an iMac, that's all from Apple. I don't have an iPad or iPhone. I will say this I'm a big Apple consumer when it comes to their computers and I'm a graphic designer so I don't use PC. Mac OS, interface, design, durability, strong virus immunity and user intuitiveness are light years ahead of any PC maker. Yes mac is "closed" platform and not open but that doesn't affect my computing needs so that's irrelevant to me.

I hate apple macs with a passion, horrid silly creations that give me no pleasure to deal with. PC's on the otherhand are logical and enjoyable.

The only thing that an apple product had going for it with me was the nice visual clarity from its display (i think it was a mac-book pro).

but $2500 for a laptop that would cost $1200 in PC form? not smart economics in my book.

"iPhones and iPhones...and stuff..and 3Gs..and that" :rotflmao:

That was hilarious.

I'm honestly not sure what to make of the line that you quoted since it was pretty much the entire article. We use different parts of the brain for many tasks so that doesn't necessarily surprise me.

I love the aesthetics of Apple hardware. I'm still not understanding why other computer hardware makers have yet to catch on. Some have slowly started...like HP, but overall there's just such a big divide when it comes to design and it doesn't make sense.

Have you looked at CoolerMaster cases? Their cases are what I consider amazing looking.

I had to laugh.

Anyone who thinks their computer is immune from computer viruses is delusional. See the Pwn2Own competition. Although not about viruses, it shows that most computer stuff can be cracked.

I absolutely despise Apple.

I hate apple macs with a passion

The hardcore haters are just as irrational as the hardcore devotees imo.

I use a Mac but I'm neither a fanboi nor do I hate Windows. The Mac works better for me, but I fully admit Apple has made it's share of mistakes and it's dumb to hang on Jobs' nuts.

On the haters side, I don't get that either. If something doesn't work for you, then don't use it. Why the need for hate?

You need anti-virus software for your Mac.

As a Mac user, I can tell you that no, you really don't. ;)

I'm not going to claim it is just because of superiority or anything, the small market share is a huge factor.

Having antivirus on the Mac is useful for one thing, and that's for detecting Windows viruses.

There are basically no viruses for Mac, so there are no virus signatures either, so an antivirus doesn't do anything as far as protection for the Mac OS.

Not really. There isn't any type of widespread virus that has infected OS X. There are thousands upon thousands for Windows.

Malware and Java-based viruses are emergin at alarming rates. And that article I cite is almost two years old.

But thanks for subscribing to common myths that don't line up with reality.

You can easily get malware on Macs.

I'll tell you... you really do.

No, you can't. It's incredibly hard to get any kind of malware on the Mac. The article you cite (and virtually all the malware I've seen for OS X) is referencing trojans that the user has to download and install. If you can get the user to install something, you can infect anything. Those trojans are not widespread, because they cannot spread spontaneously like many Windows viruses.

Now I've used a Mac for 13 years, never run antivirus and never had an issue. No one I know who uses a Mac has ever had a virus to their knowledge. So it's your comments that don't line up with reality.

I'm not saying there is no malware out there for it, sure there is. But it is NOT easy to get. It's not anything like Windows where you plug in an unpatched box to the net and it's owned in 20 minutes or whatever.
