  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Architecture

I would not believe that there is no natural light inside. It only takes a small path for bright sunlight to cut through. It must be quite magical in those apartments.

I do hope the engineers have calculated the added weight of that much biomass though. It really adds up, as most of the weight is water, both in the soil and in the plants.

I'm sure it isn't a big deal to calculate.

Also, consider that skyscrapers in Europe are usually deliberately built in such a way that sunlight reaches the center, unlike American skyscrapers that are much wider.

I'm more concerned that this is just a 'wallpaper' to sell yet another skyscraper, rather than an actual improvement to the environment of Milan (which is full of skyscrapers, most completely barren on the outside).

Suppose the architect who created that great big fish for the fishing people, were to be contracted to design something for Elon Musk. What would it look like?
I have my ideas, but hot topics is safe for work if you know what I mean.

Something along the lines of an ouroboros, but a biped rather than a snake?

My thoughts are cruder than yours but certainly something round would be involved.

A grand cathedral, like the one in Cologne, is a nice thing for tourist to go to take snaps of, but what about the original client. What does God think?
When those temples were constructed, there were no safety precautions and not surpisingly, many men died and many more suffered agonising injury. If God were to conduct a cost/benefit analysis, what would His break even point be on the scale of ostentation versus death. If it was me I'd say that one death building a huge penile status symbol is one death too many but I'm not God.

Most people are familiar with Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water house and Wingspread; but, one of his lesser known designed houses is the John Gillin house in Dallas, Texas. Designed on a 60/120 triangular grid, instead of a square like Wingspread, the house's 3 wings sprall outwards from the massive stone fireplace on the 7 acre lot. :luv2:
