And as far as the Constitution goes that is a likely future as well, Trump has successfully expanded the powers of the presidency and no matter if a democrat or a republican wins in 2028 I don’t think they’ll be giving that power back.

I'm not sure I agree.

Today, a memo was leaked to the Press that indicated that the "acting director of ICE" Todd Lyons told ICE agents that they didn't need a warrant in order to break into people's homes and kidnap them. The memo was "verbally briefed" to ICE and Border Patrol agents with the caveat that the person inside the home had to have an adjudicated removal order, however with just a few weeks of training, most of the neanderthals that they have hired aren't going to understand this fine point about "adjudicated removal orders".

There's no constituency for people breaking into people's homes or busting out windows of their cars. It's in our friggin' Constitution: judicial warrants are required to enter our homes, and there's 250 years of judicial precedent about "private spaces" and unconstitutional search and seizure.


The problem here is Democrats and their milquetoast messaging. This campaign ad writes itself: "The Republicans claim they don't have money to help you with your grocery bill or your healthcare costs but they can come up with money for secret police to illegally break into your home and arrest you? Vote Democrat to stop this trampling on your rights!".

It's a no win situation. If you have any doubts, watch a little OAN, Fox or Newsmax. In that alternative reality on right wing news, everything Trump does is being portrayed like FDR saving America.

Anything the Dems do is not going to break through. They do not have the media outlets on satellite, streaming or podcasts that the right wing has.

If they sit aside and let Trump destroy the economy or start WWIII or let the people of Ukraine get the sit bombed out of them, then it's a mess the Democrats will inherit and have to clean up again. This happened in 2009 and in 2021, and for what reward? The only message that will break through is for the Democrats to say, "This guy is stealing your money, using it to make himself and his billionaire friends rich and it's up to you to vote us into office to keep him from emptying your bank account". Democrats always seem to be running against something instead of running on a future plan to make things better.

The Democrats, when they were in charge, put together omnibus funding bills that no one read and were always brought to the floor for vote up against a deadline.

The Republicans, when they were in the minority, complained incessantly about omnibus bills.

Now that the tables are turned and the Republicans are in charge, they are passing omnibus funding bills that no one has read and they're bringing it to the floor for a vote up against a deadline for a government shutdown. This one is required to pass in order to fund the Departments of Defense, Labor, Health and Human Services, and Homeland Security.

It's really time to vote them all out of office and start with a clean slate.
