Are first class plane tickets worth the extra money?

Oh absolutely...although there are various ways that you can get those tickets cheaper, which is even better.

The only issue is, once you go First Class, coach is a nightmare you'll never want to experience again.

Depends where you are going.

Atlanta- Charlotte is not really worth it

or

Atlanta - Miami

however
Atlanta -Athens
NY - Hong Kong

if you can afford it, definitely.

I usually go to Las Vegas or L.A. from Portland, OR. Its only about a 2 hour flight, but I am really prissy.

Are the seats much larger? Is the food better? Is there actual service? Those are the kind of things I am wanting to know about.

I've flown both, and am not impressed w/ First Class (not even while flying overseas). I'm probably in the minority though.

Depends on the airline, the length of the flight, and what exactly the cost difference is. I've found it worth it each time I've done it, but each time, it's been pretty cheap.

I've never flown first class, but I was bumped up to business on a London-Philthydelphia flight once. IIRC, the food was pretty much the same (but British Airways tends to have higher quality food than most airlines anyway), but the seat was MUCH more comfortable. I had no trouble sleeping, and I wasn't sore at all when the flight landed.

As others have said, I wouldn't pay extra for an upgrade on a short flight, but it could very well be worth it for a longer flight.

Have never been on first class - I can never seem to justify the expediture - to my mind, there is always a more worthy thing to spend the money on...

Definitely worth it! First to board the plane - first to get out!

I once got upgraded from business class to first class flying from Europe to USA a 9 hour flight. I think I could get used to it!!! Economy is a nightmare after this though. On international European flights they don´t have first class - only busisness and Economy and most flights are less than 2 hours. For domestic US flights I think it is worth it and more affordable.

I find a way to upgrade if the flight is 3 hours or longer. I never pay full price for a first class ticket, though. I either upgrade through miles or vouchers or something. Many airlines have an auto-upgrade option if you buy a full-fare coach ticket, but I've never even done that.

Is it worth it? Depends. Usually, I'd say yes. The seats are bigger, there are less people, there's ample overhead storage, and you're the first to de-plane at the destination. The food? Yeah, there's food, but it's airline food, so....

On international flights, I usually find a way into business class. First is just prohibitive unless you have access to perks that I don't. But, business is good enough. I've flown NY to Paris and London in coach and...never again. I was sore and contorted for 2 days afterwards. Business is just easier on the body on those long-haul flights.

No in the case of American or Canadian airlines. Somewhat for European and a big yes for Asian. I miss those days of traveling in the first of Cathay Pacific, Emirates and Singapore Airlines with my father. It's just like a castle in the air. Oh but now I try hard to find discounts on coach thanks to my estrangement with my father

you still get to your destination at the same time
it's just snobery look i have the cash:badgrin::badgrin::badgrin::badgrin:

Domestically, only if the flight is over 3 hours.

Internationally, only business or first is civilized travel.

Since I fly about once a week....

If it is a short flight, there is not that much difference between sitting in an exit row and sitting in first class. You get a ceramic cup for your coffee in first class and a real glass for your juice but that is about the extent of it. You do get on and off first and they will hang your coat up if you are wearing one.

On longer flights, first class is terrific; you can get up and walk around and sometimes they even give you a meal.

On International flights, the company pays for upgrades. British Airways is super -- you get a bed in first class and in business the seats nearly totally recline.

I always hate flying the little regional jets because even the exit rows are the same as the other seats (and there is no first class). Feel crammed in and crunched!

If I had the money to just throw away I would travel in first class.

But I don't.

So I would rather suffer in economy class and have a more cash to spend on a holiday then have a comfy seat to sit in.
