Frankly, I do not have any stats to prove my point. So, this is just a personal opinion and not an argument, I'd be able to defend at this time.
Judging by the ever growing interest major businesses and advertisers are expressing in pink EUR, USD, GBP..., I'd say they must have their good reasons to believe that we as a group have more to spend then some other social groups.
Sure, this does not go on to say that every dude, who just happens to be gay has a fat 6-figure annual income and is thus, a highly coveted mega-consumer. I am talking groups as opposed to each and every individual case
I will also agree with Berbenli, when he says:
I doubt where you stick your dick alters how you arrange the bookcase
I am also wondering, if this really matters, save if you want to poke some good fun at your fellow gay dudes.
But, yeah, I'd also say that being gay significantly impacted my life planning, my motivation and my general attitude towards life.
Being gay made me far more self-protective and very keen on beefing up my reserves and redundances of everything to the max. I was gearing up for a quiet war ever since I was 12. My fellow str8 friends were gearing up for an easy & cheap ride.
I only knew very well that people around me would be more prone to discriminate against me, if there was nothing I could really do about it and/or, if they felt that such discrimination was going to be effective. I was also able to network with dudes sharing both the same predicament and the same outlook and that really has been very beneficial from the beginning.
Once the going got really nasty, most of my str8 friends lost their traction and ended up being completely marginalized. They used to feel that the world was their playground; they were running the show and nothing bad was ever going to happen to them. They have always done everything right. They played the sports. They were popular. They fucked the cheerleaders and other willing beauties and went around bragging about their conquests. They had an endlessly optimistic and positive outlook. And many of them were entirely off the mark.
I knew, I was living on the wild side. (And I have always loved every bit of it.) I knew that there might be a price to pay one way or the other. So, I was beefing up just about everything to the very best of my abilities.
It has worked just fine for me.
