I´m a member of 4 forums (one is for kinky porn stuff:cool:) and I gotta say the absolute majority of their members are male. In fact, this forum JUB is where I have encountered the most females. Is that true for most of them, or just the ones that get my attention?

Btw, I would really apreciate if someone would link me to a lesbian themed forum. Now that would be an interesting read. Thanks ..|

I think it may be because your drawn to the more male orientated sites (what with you being a guy an all :)) so you probably just missed the female ones

just go to google.co.uk and type lesbian forum or something

wait.. women are allowed to use the internet now?

I knew that sufferage thing was a bad idea.

I only use two internet fora

This and Neowin.net

Neowin is a tech forum, OF COURSE it's going to be dominated by men.

But I've ran into quite a few women dominated fora.

Like the work at home fora....

go check out the forum on suzanne sommers dot com. Lots of women there

](*,)](*,) My intention was not being sexist or shit ](*,)](*,)

One of the forums I like to post/check in is Skyscrapercity and its very male dominated (in fact I have only encountered a woman there: she´s the sweeheart in that particalur subforum), but it makes me wonder there are a lot of women architects out there... so why all the men???

The other one is one who likes to discuss awards and stuff, Awardsdaily, who in fact is owned by a woman... but the overwhelming majority (I have not encountered any women there) of members are male, gay male to be precise

An the last one is about granny porn , you do the math there

Are Internet forums male dominated?

no doubt about that. and then, when it comes down to board admins, moderators, webmasters, etc. the male domination becomes even more obvious.

Actually, it's true.

The majority of Internet users are affluent White males.
I think this is true! I also think techies/engineer/geek type males tend to dominate the Internet demographic.(I include my self in that catagory) This may be why Libertarian politics is so visible here.

I belong to a couple of cooking forums, and they are female dominated, but open to anyone.

I go to some forums that have a female majority. Just depends on the topic I think.

The easy answer is YES; but please bear with me, if I may explain a little...

Take a good look at the subjects that take place in the forums and ask yourself, "Would women take interest in discussions involving Batman, masturbation, hawt chicks, etc....??

There are millions of women on the internet every minute of every day. But, like in your real life, you are not at a location or doing the right things that would attract their attention.

I could say that initially girls/women were NOT involved in the internet, initially, so it is hardly surprising that the emergence of the internet saw mostly adult men dominating cyberspace. Interestingly enough, when computers were considered ‘word processors' they were operated by women for the sole purpose of providing professional and executive men with clerical service.

The computer was intended to be a military weapon and the internet was created to ensure a method of secure communication by the military.

Cyberspace became an unfriendly environment to women because scientific knowledge excluded them, their interests, and their perceptions of the world.

Research today reveals that women are utilizing the Internet to communicate with other women. While women are comfortable engaging in on-line conversations with other women, they are not comfortable engaging in conversations with men. Often men‘s conversations dominated other topics of discussion which made it difficult for women to ‘speak'.

Other indicators of Cyberspace's misogyny (hate or mis-trust of women) is evident in the various forms of on-line harassment that women receive. Women are utilizing the internet as a communication tool and as a means to benefit themselves in various positive ways.

Although one would consider the ‘chilly climate' of the Internet as an apparatus of oppression and exclusion, women do not allow themselves to be excluded from this technological relation of power.

Sorry I took so long in answering/explaining what I meant.

Anyone agree/disagree?

I am particularly curious about our JUBBER women's POV? (*8*)(*8*):kiss:
