It is hard to believe that they can avoid a relationship with a man or woman forever.
And only have a relationship with Jesus or god.

So just answer the question.

I'm not sure why you are interested. Maybe, for you, it's just a matter of being able to spot the homos with ease. I don't know.

But the question does need/deserve serious thought/examination.

1) The Catholic Church has, for a long time, taken a 'love the sinner, hate the sin' stand in regards to homosexuals – homos are 'ok' so long as they remain inactive/celibate.

2) The Catholic Church seems to always be suffering a serious shortage of priests.

3) It seems a certainty that there are some homosexual men who have turned to priesthood for acceptance and/or a readymade closet.

Perhaps there will come a time when the Catholic Church will no longer be able to shame gay men into priesthood.

How many straight priests would the Catholic Church be left with, then?

We can't answer that ^ question without knowing how many of their priests are gay, can we?


This may all sound like a weird 'conspiracy theory', but seriously, could shaming gay men into priesthood be a driving force behind the Catholic Church's public condemnation of homosexuality? Would they have any interest in 'the gays' if they had more than enough straight priests?

There's some very bad theology from the John Paul Pontificate that asserts that gay men are unfit for the priesthood because they are not sacrificing the good of heterosexual marriage to become priests. This of course implodes on a number of different fronts. Not least of which is the fact that Holy Church actually has and has always had married priests (21 of the 22 sui iuris Churches under the Bishop of Rome's Universal Jurisdiction, the so-called Eastern Rites have married priests).
