Are online games just for gamefreaks and nerds?

I play SmackDown! vs. RAW online with a select few people that I talk to frequently online, so its fun for me because I know them. But in the rare instances where I have gone in on my own to play a game online, idk, a lot of people can take things way too seriously. Or sometimes you'll just get someone who bails on you mid-game.

if you want to just have a fun time, i'd either mute everyone's mics or go with ps3, 360 is full of 12 kids talking shit and whatnot especially in the games you mentioned. ps3 may have less mics, but a more mature base audience. but go with what you can afford really, plus ps3 online is free, if you're just casual i wouldnt go with xbox since you have to pay monthly

ps3 has wifi also, and will soon have if not already a better library of games than the 360, but by all means go with what you want, but ps3 would actually be cheaper in the long run since you dont have to pay monthly to play online, online is completely free

Nah, I don't consider people freaks or nerds for playing games online.

I myself have only really played two games online. One I can't remember the name, but it was in beta earlier this year (Which was when I was playing it). It was kind of a strategy game, build your town into a castle then take over the other castles around you. You could also join up with other characters, make non-aggression pacts and whatnot.

The other is the Phantasy Star Portable 2 demo that just came out last week. When the full version comes out I plan on getting that and playing it online.

All the people I've talked to on both seem pretty normal. Unlike the rumors you hear many have jobs and lives! Although I don't believe much of those rumors anyway since it's only a small portion of people that really get addicted to their games.

That's my whole online gaming experience right there lol.

Halo and Call of Duty both, as we all know have a massive group of hardcore followers

But with the matchmaking system it should be balanced out somewhat.

It will be fine, but if we are being honest I loved both those games online plus nothing beats getting cussed by 12 year olds.

360 has better online but a lot of immature players. So its easy to just make friends on it then play with your friends online, its fun and at least you won't hear the name calling back and forth.

I have a PS3 and though the online is free, it does tend to lag and cut out from time to time. I play Red Dead Redemption and it was really fun playing with friends. When I played on public rooms the people were assholes but at least they didn't come across as immature.

I heard funny jokes online a couple of years ago that the reason why all the kids are on the 360 was because the price was cheap and the parents bought it for them. That all the mature players were on the PS3 because it was a more expensive system so parents wouldn't buy a system that expensive for their kids.

Both systems are good, the Wii is horrible for online gaming, friend codes are so limited.

Also to answer your question online games are not for gamefreaks and nerds, I see a lot of causal players playing online a lot more now a days.

I've met a lot of pilots, architects, high school drop-outs and drug addicts on WoW. There are so many people playing...the demographic is vast. They're not necessarily for 'nerds' or 'gamefreaks'...you can be casual or 'hardcore' playing.

I only play WoW because a) a monthly subscription is cheaper than going to Blockbuster to rent ONE game these days and b) one game on the Internet allows for books, books and more books on my shelves instead of PS3/xBox games!
