I just found out my boyfriend used poppers once a year ago (before we met). He doesn't consider it a "drug", but I do.

What are poppers considered as?

When I think of poppers, I think of it as the same category as cigarettes. You can buy it over the counter and it can affect your health.

And...are they illegal? Because I read that they masked themselves so the FDA doesn't see them as poppers anymore.

Am I wrong?

Have you yourself ever tried/used them?

I fear them to be a waste of time.

I want the guy i'm having sex with to feel it. AND. I want to maintain an erection - a whiff of that shit and i'm soft for nearly half an hour.

I want my guy to enjoy the sex with me, not use something to enhance it, for it to be "better". it would kind of be a slap in the face, saying that i would enjoy it better if i used..... this.

see?... i get incredibly hard(er) AND get quite the bump of surreality ... it's great ..|

and your interest that i feel it ... man! do i feel it! :sex::sex::sex:

i know some people get lost in poppers, pot, whatever :help:... i feel real bad for them.... :-({|=

but for me buying poppers was kind of like buying bad (read as: good) liquor like Hornitos Tequila ....

i know it's not good for me, especially if i do the entire bottle ...
but for the particular pleasure i seek, i'll put up with the headache for a bit ](*,) .... no big deal ....

the bottle is gone in a couple of days :=D: ... i'm over it ... how long? months usually ... maybe a year or more ... not a problem for me ... one man's use is another man's abuse .... we're all different, right? #-o

that said .... haven't done them in years ... but i might .... thanks for the idea

to the OP's question: the legal status of something sold AS "poppers" is probably different in each city or state to state ... in louisiana "poppers" is illegal ... but "liquid incense" or "video head cleaner" is not

I'm not asking if I should use it, I'm just asking if you consider it a drug, and if you do, do you consider it as a

tabaccoo, marijuana, cocaine kind of drug,

or something else.

Is there such a category as a "Sex drug"? and if so, would viagra follow under that too?

i don't think poppers and viagra would ever be considered in the same classification, even as both are used to enhance the sexual experience ...

viagra is (until some future date) a prescription drug ... misuse for whatever reason can be dealt with by existing prescription laws

poppers on the other hand, are used to intentionally alter ones consciousness or perception of reality .... it will always be dealt with as a street drug and counter-culture drug ... even though, other than alter my state of mind and give me a slight headache for a while ... it is not an awful drug like some which they should be paying attention to

the state's obsession with controlling alternative behavior often exceeds reasonable boundaries (don't compare poppers to heroin, ok?), and takes us closer to a society in which "That which is not explicitly allowed is forbidden" .... no thank you very much

No I've never used them.

Perhaps you should try it once and you will see how silly you're being. I tried them myself on exactly 1 instance, and didn't particularly like it. That said, Viagra works in a very similar way. Would you be claiming your boyfriend was a Viagra junkie if he took those?

Dude, you're over-reacting. Chill out. You're own insecurity is showing thru, and driving you insane. This isn't your boyfriend's issue; it's yours.

I would consider them a very minor drug, but like anything, I would assume there is always a risk of having a bad reaction.

It's certainly not something that would really bother me, especially considering that it happened once a year ago, before you two even met and isn't currently using them now.

Cigarettes are addictive and can cause cancer. As far as I know, poppers are not addictive. I suppose they could be harmful if you used them every time you had sex, but I'm not even totally sure of that. Regardless, that is not the situation you have presented us with.

I would hesitate to use the word "wrong", but I would say it's nothing to worry about.

For the record, I have used poppers before and they were okay, but not something I'm overly excited about doing again.

to answer your question, yes its a recreational drug.

however...
...a tabaccoo, marijuana, cocaine kind of drug,
... i get the feeling you should inform yourself better about drugs. those are three quite different kinds of drugs, aside from the fact that they are all used for recreational purposes. legality, effects, addiction potential, health risks are all quite different. its like youre asking: "do you consider cars to be a vehicle? like, an airplane, skateboard, submarine kind of vehicle."

I use them for sex and even when Im not having sex. They are fun to bring to the club on a night out, so I would say yes, they are a drug of some sort, but a pretty weak one at that. too me, they're one step up from a 5 hour energy drink as far as a buzz goes.

I would say yes, it is a drug. I have never taken any.

I had a hookup once who kept spraying a substance in his mouth while he was fucking me though. He said it was similar to poppers and prevented him from cumming too quickly.

drug |drəg|
noun
a medicine or other substance which has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body

Yes, it is a drug.

Usually, poppers are a chemical called amyl nitrate. Laws vary from state to state and country to country.

In my state of NSW in Australia, carrying amyl is not illegal, but selling it for human ingestion is. That's why it is often labelled as "CD Cleaner" or "Leather Cleaner".
