The following might assist. I appreciate that this analysis is much more orientated towards violence among gay men. But this research does shed some light on violence among gays:

Despite decades of research on interpersonal violence within heterosexual relationships, very little is known about intimate partner violence among same-gender partners, particularly among men who have sex with men (MSM). Published estimates of partner abuse among MSM range from 12% to 36%.1–3 Despite the fact that these estimates are roughly comparable to cited measures of domestic violence among heterosexual women4–6 (but slightly lower than those among lesbians7,8), intimate partner violence among MSM has been virtually ignored as a public health problem.
