I don’t understand why a gay site would even bother advertising straight stuff. Or if you’re on a general porn site (like Pornhub which I love) and you check off the “gay” box that they show you straight ads. I’ve sent polite and professional complaints to Pornhub about this but got no response. The last thing I want when I’m stroking my big Albolene coated boner while watching amateur jerk off videos on Pornhub is to get suddenly shocked with an ad for a big nasty vagina in my face with a woman making all kinds of noise. Anyone who has ever worked in advertising or with the public knows the first rule of business: give the customers what they want. You would think that there must be people working at these online porn companies that wonder why they have show straight ads to gay people. Even straight people must think it’s bizarre. Hopefully someone with business sense will start a gay site that only shows gay ads, because there’s a demand for it. In the meantime, if you’re going to show me straight ads, at least have beautiful women, I don’t want to see another saggy ugly grandmother using a dildo when I’m sitting on a dildo close to shooting off.
 
It's the same reason liberal news sites run ads for conservative and MAGA news sites, and verse visa. There's money to be made from advertising, regardless of who the audience the ad is pitched for :unsure: Or, on a page from a sex toy site that is showing toys geared for gay males is showing ads for females.
 
I always wanted to know to what extent marketing and advertising ever was actually interested in real targeting, even today with big data and desperate maximization of profits: people in those sectors are not precisely the brightest and most perceptive sort of people, just blunt, coarse-minded people whose core is "I need stupid people who will buy my stuff without any resistance because I need it, because I'm cleverer and superior, and I need to prove it by convincing them to do so; period; and if they will not buy it, they are... stupid people!!" :rotflmao:

I think we give too much credit to people thinking that placements are targeted.

The reality, it is all clicks and eyeballs, so if I have 100 more clicks on a straight porn site what do I care. It is just clicks.

What are homos going to do? Stop clicking?
 
^ I do not question actual targeting, which I assume barely exists, as the return of that massive amount of effort and investment put on that advertising.

If advertising has been going downhill for the past decades, is not because of internet and the newer generations, but because it had set itself to mindlessly occupy a big void, and whatever trash they would use to occupy that espace would be considered profitable, to the point that could afford all those stupidly overproduced campaigns, all that paper that even today keeps littering elderly people's mail boxes, promising thousands of euros worth of crap prizes marketed as exclusivity and haut-de-gamme products...

Most on topic opinion so far.

A couple of months ago, I subscribed to the online archives of a certain historic US magazine for women because it made sense for a gay man who can find there photographic frontals of the past five decades, manlier and more arousing than 99.9999% of the content of those unmentionable supposedly "gay-targeted" porn video sites.

Like I commented above, advertising can only thrive for as long as everything is kept muddled.
 
Honestly, I find it far most repulsive when a 30 yo is supposed to represent a teen with a sagging thin body, or when spankers or bondies or 'tatmen' and 'piercemen' "invade" my "gay space", or when... I just browse and move along.

And honestly, there are far better-looking manly men in some straight porn than in TB of supposedly "pure gay porn": so I can get my men pounding vaginas and feel less disgusted than by hundreds of "gay stars".

I find me more "represented" by PG than by M.com... and that's ME, I do not pretend to be waving any true-colors, core gay values...
