I've seen it get worse all over the net. As noted in the article, YouTube comments are brutal. Facebook isn't much better, with racist and homophobic comments on every page. What do you think? Comments?

Reddit's upvote system works pretty well pushing the troll comments further down into near-invisible territory.

They also aren't all populated by whiny little queens who get offended because someone didn't upvote their post though.

Yep ... it is truly terrible that some people are happy to 'say what is on their mind' rather than simply parroting whatever it is that are supposed to say in order to raise their 'virtue-signal' points. :roll:

I don't care if people want to blurt out the most offensive and toxic shit that is filtering through the sewers in their own brain on the net.

Over the years we've dispatched dozens of racist, homophobic and misogynist trolls....and I mean the real trolls from JUB.

Some of the most adroit of them have managed to string it all out for weeks or even months, but one by one they either break the cardinal rules of being a good troll and just get banned...or they lose interest in being a bete noir on a homo porn site.

We have to make some distinctions between those posters who have real mental health issues that result in a kind of internet tourettes and those who consciously and maliciously seek to create chaos and mayhem on a website because they are bored and have no real intellectual or emotional outlets in the analog world.

The point I'm making about Trump is one that many observers have been making about the general tenor of politics and social commentary in the US. As Trump has moved to consolidate the alt.right community and has stood in front of the nation making the most offensive comments about whole classes of people...he is coarsening the tone of discussion. We now have angry, ugly white Walmart people screaming at the top of their lungs at every Trump rally....we see more and more threats and acts of violence against citizens that his great unwashed masses don't like.

We're heading toward the climate that gave us Kristallnacht.
 
as long as people can post without revealing their true identity they will post hateful nasty messages, there is no reason not to. People can say what they want without fear of responsibility....

I was pleasantly surprised with much of Reddit. It would be nice if people replied and didn't just upvote the questions, tho.
