I don't have to take the test -- When I first came across the personality profile, I instantly recognized myself.

Everywhere I've worked, the guys all thought it hilarious to see me jump straight out of my seat at their slightest noise provocation:mad:.

Ugh...

Why am I not surprised...
What I really meant to say is that, from an ordinary person's point of view, one shouldn't care too much about the welfare of person he doesn't see.

And is that how you feel?

Cause this is what you wrote...

As another example, just recently I gave someone on JUB a real piece of my mind. While on one hand I think he deserved the tongue-lashing I gave him, on another hand I feel very bad about it because I wonder if my words did emotional damage. This makes me hate myself for being "weak". Society expects us to stay firm against an "enemy", and not go all mushy and start worrying about his welfare.

Why would I get concerned over the welfare of people I never met? I know it doesn't seem rational, but from what I read about the condition, experiencing such emotions seem quite usual for an HSP.

Apparently you saw enough of that person to make them an "enemy" and give them a "tongue-lashing", despite...

But in my own case (and, presumably yours) getting into a fight makes me feel a whole lot worse . In fact, I don't get over the aftershocks for several days. I see conflict as a terribly upsetting event.

At which point you go on to "blame" these actions on a "condition" of your "emotional overstimulation" caused by you having "HSP" which is only supported by some internet articles and quick-quiz?

No.

For one thing, if you can not control your actions on account of an unusual emotional response system you need to see a medical professional. Two, in your own OP you write...
The designation has nothing to do with depressive tendencies, or schizophrenia, or any other kind of mental illness. Rather, it relates to how our brains perceive and process information.

To me, that reads as a physiological difference in these people in how they RECEIVE information. Which is not the same as using and reacting to that information. What we do with the information after we receive it could be influenced by the way we receive it but that isn't what is supported in this thread... You've jumped that gun.

3rd...

Post #25, your response to Taz?
I see that point of view, Taz, but we must consider this: the psychiatrist devised the only very recently, in medical years.

What the hell is that sentence even supposed to mean?
In your haste to construct a straw man out of IQ tests, you've neglected to explain how things such as increased sensitivity to hearing doesn't have tests. But that's not right... it does. We have the ability to test how well a person can hear. We also have the ability to test how a person's brain reacts to stimuli. We can compare how two different people perceive the same stimuli by comparing their neurological responses. And according to wiki, the first time this was done on a human was in 1924...
