ive been doing my christmas shopping over the last couple of days and have noticed i have spent almost as much money on stuff for me as for others ;)

so how have you been going?

i just got stargate atlantis season 2 and some new tops and stuff

I'm still workin on it, trouble is when I get to the mall I spend too much time flurtin with all the hot dudes. I gotta focus and get it done, the shopping that is;)

I haven't even started yet!#-o

I'm not really buying gifts this year, but in general I do find it difficult to shop for other people. I mean, there are some who are easy to buy for, like my sister and the Grandmother, but most of the people in my family are rather difficult... they either have everything they want or have obscure enough tastes that I can't imagine what they'd like.

And I always end up buying stuff for myself, sometimes way more than I bought for other people. But that works out okay, since my birthday is right after Christmas, so I get to rationalize it as autogifting.

I think that's pretty normal. It's like for every gift I buy for someone else, I buy TWO for me!! I think so much of it is that this time of year, there are so many nice things you don't see the rest of the year.

I am not finished but I think this year I am giving more gift cards. I just don't know what to get people and they won't be specific so they can buy what they REALLY need or want and tell me later.

I find christmas shopping a chore. I don't enjoy shopping at the mall. There's always too much hassle, and not enough personal space. I find my family misses the reasons for christmas and gets too materialistic about it. I'd prefer receiving a home cooked meal or a hand made gift, than expensive trinkets.

I'm pretty terrible at shopping for gifts no matter what the occasion. I never am really sure what to get anyone. #-o

I'm not that good at Christmas shopping as I don't know what to buy someone.

I power shopped this morning. I was at Greece Ridge Mall at 9:00 armed with my coupons! I did the East end of the mall (The Bon Ton and JC Penney) in the morning. Went home, had lunch with Dave, and hit the west end of the mall (Macy's and Sears) in the afternoon.

WOW! I found some MAJOR sales, especially at Macy's. I used to loathe that store when it was Kaufmann's. They really have brought in better merchandise, and the sales are terrific. I think I'll be doing more Macy's in the future.

I got some really nice shirts for Dave on sale. Of course, I think he looks hot in anything he wears, (or doesn't wear, hehehe!), but I always make sure that I buy him nice clothes.

I've finished shopping. I started in early November. Planning is important. Know what you want to buy and know where to buy it. I spend very little time just "looking around".

I have found that buying gifts for the kiddos is pretty easy and a lot more fun. For everyone else I tend to buy them gift cards. I know my family and friends well enough that I can nail the right gift card for the right place to shop. It's a lot easier and the recipient can get what they need or want.

I havn't bought one present yet....well that is not true. I paid for my mom to get her eyes tested and then took her to buy new glasses, since she hasnt had a new pair in about 8 years and her eyes were worse, especialy after she had a stroke last may. So me and my two brothers are splitting the cost of those. That is her christmas present, since they set us back $400

I have no idea what Im buying anyone else however, and it is one week before christmas. Im off work all next week so I will be shopping then. And if I find something I like for myself in the process, I will buy it.

I hate shopping with a passion on a normal occasion, so Im going to dread the malls this week.

That's what I generally do., with the slight difference that some of it's done months in advance on "impulse buys" when I notice perfect gifts in a store, especially on sale.

If I care enough about people to bother with getting them a gift, I should know what they'd want, need, and/or really appreciate, instead of having to browse.

So, I imagine the particular gift, look for its local retailer online, and go pick it up.

(On the other hand, those would adore my flair for the unique tend to receive some meaningful, rare goodies I could only pick up on my flea-market adventures.)

Do you get tempted to keep the toys for yourself after you bring them home to wrap?

I bought my nephew a radio-control mini hovercraft, and felt compelled to put the battery in, charge the unit, and take it on a test flight "for quality control."

It was fun, until I started thinking about how to modify its design to stabilize its directional shifting.

A kid, though, would enjoy crashing it into trees

I'm bloody great. I've shelled out about £130, considering I have no job, got everything already wrapped, gifttagged, ribbons round it, those ribbony bobbles stuck on, the lot. Even my wrapping paper looks cool.

The trick is, buy two, modify yours and then show off to your nephew how much better yours is, on christmas day. ;)
