An historic exhibition of works by the 17th century Dutch master Johannes Vermeer opened a few days ago at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and will continue until early June. This is a show I've been looking forward to seeing and am hoping I can orchestrate upcoming travels in order to do so.

My partner and I often schedule trips around special exhibitions and events such as these. My last visit to Dublin was, in fact, inspired by a show on Vermeer and Dutch genre painting. This was also an opportunity to fly south to England and see the Raphael drawing show at the Ashmolean in Oxford during the same trip.
